About the role

Serimax Welding Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a talented Welding Engineer to join our team in Pasir Gudang, Johor. As a Welding Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our welding operations, driving continuous improvement and innovation. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What you'll be doing

1. Continually review welding techniques and procedures, introducing improvements to ensure effective and efficient service for all clients.
2. Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
3. Schedule and manage the development of all proposed welding procedure specifications in accordance with contract documents, industry standards, and welding codes.
4. Lead the definition, establishment, implementation, and upgrading of existing welding and testing processes and procedures.
5. Submit all proposed documents for client review and approval to ensure compliance with welding and mechanical testing requirements.
6. Produce and maintain all welding procedure documentation, as well as project and MOP documentation.
7. Develop the scope of work for all procedure qualifications and communicate these requirements to Quality Control and shop personnel before welding begins.
8. Review data provided by Quality Control to ensure compliance with welding procedure specifications.
9. Oversee all mechanical testing (including Purchase Order preparation) for welding procedure qualifications.
10. Witness and review all mechanical testing results, specifications, welding codes, and standards to ensure compliance and completion of qualification records.
11. Complete final welding documentation and obtain client review/approval.
12. Ensure welder qualification tests meet code requirements and contract specifications, and compile registers.
13. Prepare technical reports identifying results of development, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance investigations.
14. Prepare and compile documentation for site operations. Collect, analyze, and report production and quality data for assigned projects. Address production issues related to welding, equipment, and personnel promptly.

What we're looking for

1. A degree with a major in Welding Engineering or Engineering
2. Minimum 5 years' experience as a Welding Engineer in the oil, gas, and pipeline industry is preferred
3. Experience in offshore equipment and knowledge of API/DNV/BS standards preferred
4. Qualified as IWE is an added advantage
5. Exhibits a real knowledge of the company, empathy for its mission, and a genuine commitment to its goals and values
6. Utilizes strong presentation skills and demonstrates intercultural adaptability and sensitivity
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
8. Ability to interface effectively with various levels of management, clients, and other parts of the organization
9. Strong team-player with excellent reporting and interpersonal skills
10. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
11. Strong analytical skills: attention to detail
12. Effective ability to organize resources and multiple activities to accomplish a goal, uses resources effectively and efficiently, arranges information and files in a useful manner
