Job description

Overview

The WEDM Engineer/Operator is responsible for operating and programming Wire Electrical Discharge Machining equipment to produce high-precision components according to engineering drawings and quality standards. This role ensures efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with aerospace/precision manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and set up WEDM machines.
• Program WEDM machines using CAD/CAM software.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
• Perform process planning, fixture setup, and selection of machining parameters to achieve required tolerances.
• Monitor machining process, adjust offsets, and troubleshoot issues to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Conduct first article inspection (FAI) and in-process quality checks with precision measurement tools (micrometer, CMM, height gauge, etc.).
• Maintain machine condition, perform basic preventive maintenance, and ensure proper use of consumables (wires, dielectric fluid, filters, etc.).
• Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to improve machining processes and cycle times.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, aerospace quality requirements (e.g., AS9100), and company policies.
