Job summary

Standard Chartered is seeking a Trade Settlement professional to ensure timely, accurate settlement of Wealth Management transactions across multiple products, markets and entities. The role requires overseeing end-to-end processes, maintaining control across settlement platforms, and coordinating with custodians, brokers and internal teams to resolve issues.

• Investment experience in wealth management products.
• Hands-on experience with mutual funds and bonds.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end settlement of Wealth Management products.
• Ensure settlement instructions are complete, accurate and released within cut-off times.
• Monitor settlement positions, unmatched transactions and failed settlements.
• Investigate and resolve settlement exceptions and mismatches promptly.
• Coordinate with counterparties, custodians, depositories, brokers and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Maintain oversight of trade matching, confirmations and settlement-status across platforms.
• Ensure accurate reflection of cash and securities in nostro, custody and related accounts.
• Review and resolve reconciliation breaks within agreed timelines.
• Escalate failed trades before market or client deadlines.
• Assess impact of settlement failures on clients and markets, and take mitigating action.
• Monitor aged settlement items and assign ownership with action plans.
• Investigate settlement fees, penalties, market claims and losses per procedures.
• Support corporate-action settlement events affecting open or pending transactions.
• Ensure reversals, cancellations and amendments are properly authorised and documented.
• Maintain controls over release instructions, standing settlement instructions and manual movements.
• Record material settlement incidents and conduct root-cause analysis.
• Produce management information on volumes, success rates and risks.
• Analyze recurring issues with business and technology teams to implement remediation.
• Support market changes and improvements to settlement operating model.
• Contribute to automation, standardisation and straight-through processing.
• Maintain up-to-date procedures, maps and escalation matrices.
