Job summary

AMETEK Inc. in Penang, Malaysia seeks a Warehouse Supervisor to supervise and coordinate warehouse activities, ensuring accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of materials.

You will manage inventory control, implement FIFO, and lead a team including warehouse assistants and material handlers. The role requires 5 years of related experience, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience MRP operating environment; Navision; SAP Ariba is a plus.
• 3 years of Supervisory experience.
• Excellent working knowledge of supply chain management and Lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train warehouse assistants & material handler.
• Monitor inventory control function and raise PR/PO through system for In-Direct Material / Parts.
• Supervise receiving activities to ensure accurate receipt of materials (NAV and Ariba system).
• Process and handle inventory posting, job card transactions and coordinate inventory movement.
• Coordinate production order kitting to ensure materials are staged before production start.
• Oversee and develop strategies to improve cycle count accuracy and efficiency.
• Recommend and improve inventory accuracy; monitor slow-moving or obsolete stock.
• Conduct cycle counts monthly and stock takes annually.
• Advise warehouse staff on care, storage, and safe use of equipment.
• Ensure safety and compliance with 5S and warehouse policies.
• Plan stockroom layouts and assign duties to maintain order.

Job description

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of warehouse. He/She will be controlling, and processing inventory related to the receiving, storing, issuing, shipping goods, supplies parts in the stockroom and stocking locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inventory Management
  • Responsible for supervising and training warehouse assistants & material handler.
  • Monitoring inventory control function and raise PR/PO through system for In-Direct Material / Parts based on the inventory level status.
  • Supervise receiving activities to ensure accurate receipt of materials (NAV and Ariba system).
  • Process and handle inventory posting, job card transaction (to comply with FIFO) and coordinate inventory movement.
  • Coordinate production order kitting activities to ensure all required materials are staged and available on the production floor prior to the production start date.
  • Oversee and develop strategies that improve cycle count process for efficiency and first pass accuracy.
  • Recommend and improve inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor slow-moving, excess, obsolete inventory.
  • Conduct cycle counts (monthly basis) and annual stock takes.
  • Advise warehouse assistant on care and preservation of items receive, storage, and shipping goods.
  • Advise warehouse assistant to use of equipment with safety as a priority.
  • Trace, identify and rectify discrepancies between physical inventory and stocking records.
  • Adjusts and tracks errors for all operations with the mindset to identify root cause and error proof method.
  • Anticipate & implement new processes to improve efficiency of operations.
  • Plan layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Assign duties and examines work for neatness, and compliance to policies and 5S procedures.
  • Other duties as required and assigned by superior.
• Shipping & Logistics
  • Supervise packing and shipping activities (shipment booking).
  • Ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
  • Coordinate with forwarders and logistics providers.
  • Verify shipping documentation accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export and customs requirements.
• Organizational Relationships
  • Supervise the Shipping, Receiving, Stockroom departments.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors and Group leaders on material availability.
  • Interact with Purchasing and Planning, Engineering, Quality Control, and Sales.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience MRP operating environment, experience in Microsoft Navision, SAP Ariba is a plus.
• 3 years of Supervisory experience. Ability to handle conflict issues.
• Excellent working knowledge of supply chain management, inventory management with Lean manufacturing management principles.
