Job summary

The Japan Research Institute, Limited (Singapore Branch) is seeking an experienced Data Governance Specialist in Malaysia to implement data stewardship, define data quality rules, and ensure regulatory compliance across banking domains. You will collaborate with multiple units, document governance processes, and support data lineage initiatives.

Qualifications

• 4 to 6+ years of experience in data-related disciplines including data governance and management.
• Proven data stewardship and governance experience within banking or financial services.
• Ability to design data quality rules and resolve data issues across domains with regulatory alignment.
• Strong understanding of BCBS 239 and regulatory reporting requirements for banks.
• Hands-on with data governance tools: Collibra and other DG tools; knowledge of automation tools is a plus.
• Excellent documentation, process management, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement data stewardship principles aligned with governance framework and policies.
• Collaborate with business units to classify, validate, and maintain data quality rules.
• Document and maintain data governance processes and reporting mechanisms.
• Support data lineage activities to ensure traceability and integrity.
• Assist in adopting governance tools like Collibra across domains.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including BCBS 239.
• Promote data governance best practices and provide training to stewards and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management and HOD.
