Seed Light is seeking a remote video editor to turn client footage into short social‑media videos with hooks, captions and quick pacing. You will work on ads for Meta and TikTok, generating multiple versions from each shoot and keeping a well‑organized library.
The role emphasizes speed and testing different hooks over polishing every transition. Candidates should provide a reel of short work, demonstrate the ability to cut to briefs, caption accurately, and adapt to varied client footage.
Also advertised as: Short-form video editor, Social media video editor, Reels & TikTok editor, Motion graphics editor, Ad video editor
In this remote Seed Light video editor role, you turn client footage into short videos for ads and social media, including hooks and versions for testing.
Full-time, contract or internship Remote, wherever you are 2+ years editing short form video
Clients supply phone footage for social platforms. The video editor turns it into short videos with clear hooks, captions, cuts and pacing.
Most of it is short: ad creative, reels, before and after, a founder talking to camera. The measure is whether it holds attention and produces a result, rather than how polished the transitions are.
This role is open on a rolling basis, so applications are read as they arrive rather than after a closing date.
CapCut, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Meta Ads Manager, Google Drive. The licences and subscriptions the job needs are paid for, and knowing every one of these already is not expected.
Questions candidates usually ask before applying. If yours is not here, add it to the message box on the form.
Expect to make several versions of one idea so different hooks can be tested. The job values a useful testing batch over one highly polished edit.
Say so early when the footage cannot support a useful edit. Explain the exact problem, such as missing coverage, poor sound or an unreadable product shot, then give the client a short list of footage needed to fix it.
Mainly advertising and social. Some client work is longer: a testimonial, a walkthrough of a premises, an explainer for a service that is hard to describe in text.
Usually the advertising specialist writes the hook, and the editor may contribute. Daily contact with the footage often reveals which opening line fits it best.
Send three short edits and one line each on what you were given to work with. Work made from difficult raw footage is far more useful to see than a well resourced brand shoot.
