Overview:
Dexcom is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President, Operations to lead and oversee the operations of our large, state-of-the-art medical device manufacturing facility in Malaysia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the site’s operations, including manufacturing, automation, quality, customer service, capital investment, and stakeholder management, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with Dexcom’s strategic goals. This role also involves strategic engagement with government bodies, industry groups, and driving a culture of innovation, open communication, and excellence across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Culture Development:
Drive a positive and innovative culture across the site. Promote open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Cultivate a workplace that values diversity, inclusion, and professional growth.
Manufacturing Operations:
Oversee day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, focusing on key operational metrics such as yield, output, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and cost. Ensure the production lines meet high standards of efficiency, quality, and safety, leveraging advanced automation technology.
Performance Metrics:
Ensure that manufacturing processes are optimized for maximum output and minimal waste, maintaining competitive costs and continuously improving performance in terms of yield, quality, OEE, and customer satisfaction.
Customer Service & Satisfaction:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that products are manufactured to meet customer specifications and delivery timelines, while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Lead quality initiatives to ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulations. Collaborate with quality teams to maintain a consistent focus on product integrity and safety.
Capital Investment & Project Implementation:
Lead the evaluation and analysis of capital investments, ensuring that all projects align with Dexcom’s strategic goals. Oversee the planning, approval, and implementation of capital projects, such as new production lines, automation systems, and facility expansions, to enhance operational capacity and competitiveness.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with a focus on long-term operational efficiency and return on investment (ROI).
Government & Industry Relations:
Serve as the key point of contact with local government authorities, regulatory bodies, and industry associations. Foster strong relationships to support business growth, compliance, and partnership opportunities.
Global Stakeholder Management:
Act as a liaison between the Malaysia site and Dexcom’s global organization. Build and maintain strong relationships with global leadership and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of the Malaysia site’s operations with global strategies and objectives. Lead change management initiatives that impact the site, while ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across regional and global stakeholders.
Financial Accountability:
Manage the site's budget, cost controls, and financial planning to meet financial goals and optimize resource allocation. Evaluate cost-saving opportunities, including capital investments, to drive operational efficiency.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
Develop and execute short-term and long-term strategies that align with Dexcom’s global objectives. Lead efforts to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA) is preferred.
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, ideally in medical device or highly regulated industries.
Proven track record in managing large-scale, automated manufacturing environments with a focus on performance metrics such as yield, OEE, and cost optimization.
Strong experience in capital investment analysis, financial justification, and leading successful project implementation.
Strong understanding of quality systems, regulatory compliance, and the medical device industry’s standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA regulations).
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to foster a high-performing, inclusive, and innovative culture.
Experience in liaising with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L for large-scale operations, including capital budgeting.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
