The Verification Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the output of complex projects is delivered with high quality and on time to our customers by defining, executing, and reporting tests as required.

This role significantly contributes to the product’s quality, reliability, and customer-focused design experience, adhering to approved functional and technical specifications within the Cochlear Quality Management System framework.

This position reports directly to the V&V Manager and involves collaboration with multiple stakeholders such as V&V Leads/Managers, development teams, other V&V Engineers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Delivery Managers, and Quality Engineers (when applicable). The V&V Engineer executes V&V plans and partners with development teams within a squad setup, ensuring high standards of regulatory and quality compliance.

Accountabilities

  • Understanding the functional and technical specifications within the context of Customer Software Products’ ecosystem and wider Cochlear Products’ ecosystem.
  • Creating test cases based on planning meetings, new feature/function introductions, modifications to existing features/functions, and other relevant testing triggers.
  • Generating and maintaining documentation for all verification and validation activities, including testable requirements assessments, design inputs, outputs, and results.
  • Preparing frontend/backend/electronics/end-to-end test environments based on Test Coverage Review minutes and testing scope relevant to the target release.
  • Understanding V&V test protocols and Test Coverage Review minutes to prepare testing activities using the required hardware and software combinations.
  • Executing test cases using the correct hardware combinations as per test definitions and Test Coverage Review minutes.
  • Producing reports that comply with Cochlear’s Quality Management System and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Setting up the appropriate test environment (manual/automated) as required and escalating any issues related to test hardware.
  • Possessing tertiary qualifications in computing, engineering, or science, or at least 2-4 years’ experience in full lifecycle software verification and validation for consumer-facing devices.
  • Experience with test management and defect management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in executing verification processes (frontend/backend/end-to-end), mainly for web & desktop testing.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting product quality standards.
  • Solid understanding of test methodologies, Software Integration Testing, and the Software Development Life Cycle / V-model.
  • Ability to define test conditions based on requirements and designs.
  • Experience in functional testing with electronics and electronic test equipment is desirable.
