We have opportunities available for Vegetation Compliance Auditors within our South West, South Wales and East Midlands licence area.National Grid Electricity Distribution's (NGED) vegetation management program employs specialist utility arboriculture contractors to manage vegetation adjacent to its overhead network at all voltages from LV to 132kV. The program follows the principles set out in EREC G136 and is designed to ensure compliance with ESQCR 2006.As part of developing a more consistent approach to vegetation management across the 4 NGED licence areas, the Vegetation Compliance Team is expanding. Six vacancies are available for Vegetation Compliance Auditors to join the existing team. From time to time, other duties will include the assessment of vegetation related outage requests, the assessment and interpretation of tree failures in relation to unplanned outages, tree hazard identification & risk assessment, the assessment of one-off quotations for vegetation management works, and provision of expert arboriculture and forestry advice to NGED colleagues and stakeholders as and when required.The Ideal CandidateLevel 2 or higher NQF in arboriculture and / or forestryNPTC UA units 1, 5.1 & 5.2 (or the equivalent new units 0038-30, 0038-31 and 0038-40)) or LANTRA equivalentsExperience in utility arboriculture surveyingExcellent tree identification skillsExcellent knowledge of tree pathology, wood decay fungi and pests & diseasesA thorough understanding of Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) techniquesThe ability to assess and create clear and appropriate work specifications and costingsExperience of working with utility arboriculture contractorsFamiliarity in working with IT systemsA clear and consistent focus on safety, quality and customer serviceThe ability to work on your own and as part of a teamA full UK driving licenceAlthough not essential, it would be beneficial if the successful candidate had the following qualifications and experience:Level 3 or higher NQF in arboriculture and / or forestryNPTC 0038-41LANTRA Professional Tree InspectionExperience with interpretation of LiDAR data and related imageryCompetency at LV and HV levelExperience of ground-based and aerial tree work operationsEvidence of your qualification certificates will be required prior to appointment.National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers.
