Job summary

QBE Asia in Malaysia is seeking an assistant to support Liability underwriting, including quotes, amendments, and risk assessment. You will liaise with intermediaries and work under supervision to grow underwriting knowledge and expertise.

You will assist with data entry, maintain records, and support ongoing reporting while ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Experience in general insurance or underwriting support is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist underwriters in preparing quotes and documentation for Liability products.
• Provide interpretation and guidance on underwriting policies to team members.
• Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in relevant systems.
• Maintain records of referrals, backlogs, and productivity metrics.
• Support knowledge-building on product, system and process areas.
• Review recommendations based on appetite, pricing, coverage and conditions.

The purpose of this role is to support Liability underwriting in preparing quotes, reviewing plan changes and amendments, support underwriters in assessing and managing insurance risks, and liaising with intermediaries. The role involves working closely with supervision to develop knowledge and skills in Liability underwriting principles and operations.

The Opportunity

Supports Liability underwriting activities by assisting with quote preparation, policy amendments, and plan reviews, while helping assess and manage insurance risks. The role also involves liaising with intermediaries and working closely with underwriters to develop knowledge and expertise in Liability underwriting principles, processes, and operations.

Your New Role

• Assist underwriters in preparing quotes and documentation for various Liability products.
• Provide basic interpretation and advice on underwriting policies and procedures to team members.
• Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in relevant systems and databases.
• Maintain records of team referrals, backlogs, and productivity metrics, contributing to reporting efforts.
• Support the build upon product, system and process knowledge.
• Review the recommendations made based on QBE's appetite, pricing, coverage, and conditions of new business.
• Support the management of an assigned book of business under the supervision of a Senior Associate and Underwriter.
• Maintain and develop relationships with assigned select brokers.
• Evaluate risk on current customers and prospects.
• Provide a timely and professional level of service to internal and external customers.
• Assist with the review and analysis of the portfolio to evaluate progress toward business objectives and identify opportunities.
• Consistently adhere to underwriting compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
• Support the execution of timely and efficient underwriting activities by following established guidelines.

About You

• Some relevant working experience in administrative support or customer service function, preferably in General Insurance companies.
• Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
