About the role
Description of duties and responsibilities
  • Provide pre‑underwriting support as needed, including tasks such as renewal review, risk assessment, preparing costing, underwriting summaries, quotes, endorsements, and calculations across General Insurance business.
  • High interaction and coordination with underwriting, on‑shore/off‑shore support, as well as other functional areas such as Products, Finance, and Claims.
  • Formulate answers to questions, reviewing files, records, and other documentation as needed; disseminate or explain information, take direction, and resolve issues. Support in premium handling, monitoring and chasing.
  • Read, coordinate and work with documents from external customers, determine appropriate next steps. Compose business correspondence, with input from underwriter (if needed), collaborate and handle the development/maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures, system and tool improvements and testing/piloting system and process changes.
  • Handling of international business programs.
  • Follow established performance standards, metrics and controls applicable to the business unit supported.
  • Participate in ongoing reviews and task analysis, making recommendations from which business decisions are based.
  • Participate and implementation of ad‑hoc projects as part of process improvement implementation.
  • Produce, verify and maintain business reports for regulatory compliance e.g. MAS contract checklist, AML Key control monitoring.
  • Collaboration with outsourced providers on queries and issues to ensure data quality and accuracy.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Proactively manage customer expectation and provide guidance to team members.
  • Responsible for internal reporting when needed.
  • Support Line Manager when required.
About you
  • University Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant insurance experience required.
  • Must be fully proficient with English (reading, written and verbal).
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation.
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated collaborative approach in successfully working in globally located team situations in a matrix environment, understanding and exhibiting sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Evidenced use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work on complex problems and review related detailed information to participate in developing and evaluating options and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with internal and external people in a multi‑cultural environment.
  • Strong analytical skills including underwriting evaluation and determining and communicating recommendations to the Underwriter while working within established underwriting guidelines and operating procedures.
  • Builds relationships to create a foundation for future influence. Serves as a mentor to Associate level staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to identify, evaluate, report and work on complex problems.
  • A strong team player with ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
