We are currently seeking a Subcontracts Engineer to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Successful candidates will be offered a Fixed Term Contract.

About the mission we offer you:

As a Subcontracts Engineer, you will manage subcontracting activities in line with our Values, Policies & Operating Procedures. Your role includes developing relationships with subcontractors, evaluating their capabilities, and ensuring timely, cost-effective subcontracted services. Your expertise in contract management, negotiation, and performance evaluation will support our project execution across regions. Key challenges include:

  • Understanding complex technical, commercial, governance, and ESG considerations in process plant and offshore structures.
  • Managing highly complex packages like SMPEI, Modular Fabrication, and Offshore T&I.
  • Performing ad hoc tasks as needed.

Starting Date: Immediately

Main Accountabilities:

  • Participate in subcontracting throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to budgets, specifications, and timelines.
  • Identify and assess potential subcontractors, maintaining an up-to-date database.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define subcontracting strategies.
  • Coordinate, source, award, and administer various subcontracts in disciplines like Civil, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Fabrication, T&I.
  • Prepare and issue ITB documents, ensuring alignment with project scopes.
  • Evaluate bids, negotiate prices, and recommend subcontractors for approval.
  • Administer subcontracts, ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and address issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including contracts and change orders.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulations.

About you:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Science, Law, or Business.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in large infrastructure, landmark building, or energy/petrochemical projects.
  • Proficiency in subcontracting standards, legal requirements, and best practices.
  • Experience in contract development, negotiation, and administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Curious, goal-oriented, and solutions-focused.
  • Excellent writing and reading skills.

Nice to have:

  • Member of RISM, RICS, CIOB, or AACEi.
  • Field experience in process plant and modularization.
  • Willingness to relocate as needed.
