We are currently seeking a Senior Static Equipment Engineer to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Successful candidate would be offered fixed term employment.

About The Job

About the role:

Perform engineering detailed design on current projects for onshore / offshore projects and to fulfill Departmental needs and support engineering operation within the Company.

Main Accountabilities

DESIGN BASIS, CODE & STANDARD

  • Understanding and applying knowledge of design codes, industry standards and practices such as API/ISO/ASME, etc., and interpretation of the requirements to meet project needs.
  • Competent to resolve problems / troubleshoot based on Codes & Standards interpretation.
  • Understand Codes limitations, apply with accuracy and effectiveness.
  • In-depth understanding of Clients specifications (e.g., PTS, DEP, etc.) and providing services that meet contractual requirements.
  • Review and raise clarifications on ITB / Client documents / Contractual documents in case of ambiguity or lack of clarity, based on specialist experience/judgment.

KNOWLEDGE OF STATIC EQUIPMENT

  • In-depth understanding of rotating equipment used generally in oil and gas / refinery / industries for onshore and offshore applications, and selecting correct types of equipment for given process services.
  • In-depth understanding and engineering competence in hydraulics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, rotor-dynamics, combustion, etc.
  • Able to predict rotating equipment performance without over dependence on Vendor.
  • Competent to review Vendor options and provide detailed technical evaluation.
  • Review in-house and Vendor P&IDs and identify interfaces.
  • Witness Vendor FAT / shop testing and review test reports.
  • Participate in resolving issues during shop testing.
  • Support site technical queries regarding equipment design and installation.
  • Explore cost-saving and energy-efficient options during project execution.
  • Involved in equipment / project HAZOP and close out action points.

MATERIAL SELECTION

  • Understanding of various material types for different services and knowledge of available market materials.
  • Review and provide feedback on material selection based on process input and corrosion studies.

WORKING DELIVERABLES

  • Preparation of calculation spreadsheets, technical data sheets, specifications, material requisitions, clarifications, bid evaluations, and other technical reports.

VENDOR DATA REVIEW (VDR)

  • Review vendor data to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Interface with other disciplines and resolve conflicts.
  • Conduct vendor data review meetings.

FABRICATION KNOWLEDGE

  • Understand fabrication processes and their impact on delivery schedules.

PERFORM AS LEAD ENGINEER ROLE

  • Provide total commitment to project delivery, monitor progress, and coordinate resources.

TECHNICAL AUDITS

  • Conduct technical audits upon request and investigate quality issues.

OTHERS

  • Maintain professional judgment, responsiveness, and proactive execution.
  • Produce quality deliverables, meet client expectations, and fulfill QA/HSE standards.
  • Supervise and mentor young engineers.

About you:

Possess a Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. Hons) and minimum 7 years of experience in static equipment design, preferably with experience in Green Hydrogen, Electrolyzer, and Carbon Capture Storage Projects.

  • Willing to travel and be stationed at various locations.
  • Site or fabrication experience (1-2 years).
