We are currently seeking a TS - Senior Electrical Engineer/ Electrical Engineer to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Successful candidates would be offered a fixed term of employment.

In the roles as Lead Engineer
  1. Effective resource management of the team and ability to manage tasks efficiently with the team.
  2. Work efficiently and effectively towards meeting the project milestones of man-hours, cost, and project schedules.
  3. Take leadership for Electrical discipline activities in multi-disciplinary projects.
  4. Work closely with cross-functional departments (PMD/ECP/Procurement) for results.
  5. Responsible for electrical engineering design activities on Onshore/Offshore project executions.

Main Accountabilities
DESIGN BASIS, CODE & STANDARD
  1. Understanding and applying knowledge of International Codes and Standards, Industrial Standards and Practices as applicable, and interpretation and application of the requirement to meet project requirements.
  2. Understanding and applying knowledge of Local Codes and Standards, identifying discrepancies with any international standards, competent to resolve problems/troubleshoot based on Codes & Standards interpretation.
  3. Understanding limitations of Codes and Standards, knowledge of Local laws and applicable regulatory requirements, and applying with accuracy and effectiveness.
  4. In-depth understanding of Clients specification (e.g. PTS, DEP etc.) and provide service which meets contract requirements.
  5. Review and raise clarifications on the Contractual documents/ITB (Invitation to Bid) in case of ambiguity in definition/lack of clarity/lack of reference/areas of doubt based on experience/judgment.

KNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING ACTIVITIES
  1. Competent to review Specifications and Data Sheets, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Plot plans, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Review Philosophies, Area Classification Drawings, and other relevant documents.
  2. Prepare the design basis, single line-diagrams, equipment and cable sizing calculations and other material and equipment analysis for client approval.
  3. Guide engineers in the preparation of equipment and material specifications and data sheets.
  4. Competent to participate effectively in the development of detailed engineering calculations and drawings including the preparation of Load list/schedule, Single Line Diagrams, Schematic Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Cable Schedules and Cable Drum Schedules, Interconnection Schedules, Equipment Layouts, Cable Routing and Layout Drawings, Cable Trench/Tray Layout Drawings, Lighting System Layout and Details, Earthing/Lightning System Layout and Details, Heat Tracing Layout and Details, Installation Standard Drawings, Protection Drawings and other required documents.
  5. Competent to perform/review and analyze the results of Load flow, short circuit, voltage dips, and transient stability studies, relay coordination, and design calculations for lighting, earthing, and lightning protection etc. Ability to solve problems and recommend the way forward.
  6. Prepare Inquiry Requisitions to vendors, participate in the technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. Competent to review Vendors various options (including limitations and/or deviations) and provide Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE). Review vendor drawings and documents. Ensure vendor equipment specifications meet client equipment specifications and are within budgeted costs.
  7. Prepare Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of equipment and materials. Ensure materials are obtained within scheduled timeframes and budgeted costs.
  8. Review plot plans, organize the issuance of engineering drawings and technical documents for Inter-Discipline Checks (IDCs), coordinate with other engineering disciplines in the integration of technical data inputs.
  9. Competent to witness vendor FAT/shop testing, inspect vendor works and workshops when required, provide dispatch clearance and test certificates.
  10. Competent to participate effectively to resolve any issues related to equipment testing in case of failures/deficiencies/under-performance/discrepancy during shop testing.
  11. Participate in ELSOR/HAZOP meetings with the client and representatives of other engineering disciplines and close out any action points.
  12. Competent to interface and provide clarification, guidance, and technical support to construction sites and commissioning engineers. Provide startup assistance as required.
  13. Competent to explore cost-saving options/energy-efficient measures during project execution phase or during proposal, if requested, and if available.
  14. Perform related duties as and when directed by Direct Supervisor.

WORKING DELIVERABLES
  1. Ability to prepare or guide the team to prepare effectively in a timely and productive manner.
  2. Calculation Spreadsheets, study and design reports.
  3. Job specification/Equipment specification, Technical Data Sheet.
  4. Material Requisition (MR/SR), Technical Clarification.
  5. Technical Bid Evaluation/Tabulation (TBE/TBT).
  6. Logic and Schematic diagrams.
  7. Special study reports (e.g. Voltage selection, motor selection, VSD application, EMC, root-cause analysis etc.).
  8. Sizing and selection of Hazardous Area Equipment.
  9. Input to other disciplines deliverables such as layout and utility requirements.
  10. Weight data and foundation loading input.
  11. Equipment interface details.

VENDOR DATA REVIEW (VDR)
  1. Expert review on Vendor documents to meet Codes and Standards, Local Regulations, project and disciplines requirements.
  2. Competent to interface with other disciplines like piping group, process, civil, structural, and instrumentation.
  3. Able to understand interface issues with other disciplines, and resolve any conflict.
  4. Able to conduct VDR meetings with vendors/support Vendor in case of needs to shorten the VDR duration and to achieve project progress.

EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURING KNOWLEDGE
  1. Understand manufacturing processes, long lead components, critical specifications of equipment, critical elements/critical path and how it influences the delivery of equipment.
  2. Able to anticipate effectively to improve delivery schedule of Vendor equipment.

PERFORM AS LEAD ENGINEER ROLE
  1. In the role as a Lead Engineer, able to provide total commitment to meet project values, monitoring of progress to achieve delivery schedule and execute within appropriate budget/resources.
  2. Ability to anticipate, escalate and communicate effectively in time.
  3. To provide proactiveness, creativity, and efficiency in project execution.
  4. Coordinate and plan resources for execution of project.
  5. Participate in the review of contract requirements for project execution, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal, FEED etc., identify requirements and scope of work, plan and prepare the Technical document deliverable list, man-hour estimation and project schedules etc. Ability to identify the scope of work in various phases of projects like conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED, EPC, EPCM, PMC and accordingly plan and schedule the man hours.
  6. Advise Head of Department on the manpower and skill levels required, to ensure smooth execution of the project.
  7. Distribute and assign work to the project team appropriately, to meet the project schedule.
  8. Overall manage the development of detailed engineering calculations and drawings. Ensure the lessons learnt from past projects are discussed and applied as required.
  9. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss project progress, priorities, and issues. Ability to resolve issues and recommend the way forward to meet project requirements and schedule adhering to the intended quality.
  10. Ensure proper communication and coordination among the team members.
  11. Establish project filing system and ensure adherence to project requirements and department standards.
  12. Liaise with other departments/disciplines, clients, and third parties as required by the projects.
  13. Be overall responsible for the quality of work produced.
  14. Produce the discipline close-out report once the project is completed.
  15. Act as the discipline Project Engineer to ensure the project is executed within the specified schedules and budget.

TECHNICAL AUDITS
  1. Ability to carry out technical audits at the Head of Department request (For Senior Engineer more than 10 years experience).
  2. Able to effectively investigate and resolve any quality complaints or incidents raised by any interested parties, or when requested by Client, or project manager.

OTHERS
  1. Good professional judgment, proactive and take lead in execution of deliverables to meet project needs, and ability to handle difficult situations arising due to complexities of Project demand.
  2. Deliver quality engineering deliverables/service and meeting JV/Client expectations.
  3. Fulfill QA/QHSES aspects, with acceptable teamwork.

Starting Date: Immediately

About you:
  1. The Candidate shall possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering accredited by Board of Engineer Malaysia or approved equivalent.
  2. For engineer, possess at least minimum 4 years of electrical engineering design experiences in onshore/offshore application.
  3. For Sr Engineer, possess at least minimum 8 years of post-graduate experience in similar electrical engineering design experiences for onshore/offshore application.
  4. Preferably registered Professional Engineer (PE) with local board or approved equivalent. Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC) will be advantageous for Lead Engineering position.

Additional Information
  1. Be willing to travel and stationed at various Engineering Operating Centers/Client Office on needs basis (for overseas assignment).
  2. Site or experience with OEM (1 to 2 years).
  3. Exhibit and maintain good relationship with Client/Peers/Equipment Vendor & suppliers.
  4. Good Professional Check (feedback) from past Employers/Clients.
