A leading company in real estate is seeking an experienced Trust Accounts Team Lead to manage trust accounting for a portfolio in Melbourne. This critical role involves transaction processing, compliance oversight, and leadership. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing trust operations.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Trust Accounts Team Lead to join our offshore team. This role is critical in ensuring trust accounting compliance, timely processing of transactions, and high-quality financial management for a portfolio of 500 properties in Melbourne.
You will lead by example, providing guidance on trust processes while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day trust operations. The role requires a hands-on approach combined with a leadership mindset to help uplift team capability and ensure service excellence.
Perform daily trust account transactions, including receipting, disbursements, bond lodgements, and supplier payments.
Complete accurate monthly trust reconciliations and reporting to meet audit standards.
Monitor compliance with Victorian trust account regulations, and REIV guidelines.
Investigate and resolve trust discrepancies promptly.
Act as a senior escalation point for trust accounting queries from the onshore and offshore teams.
Support training and development of junior trust accounts officers, if required.
Assist with audit preparation and liaise with auditors as needed.
Collaborate with the Property Management, Maintenance, and Executive teams to ensure smooth trust processing.
Review and improve trust account processes to support operational efficiency.
Skills and Experience
Minimum 2-4 years experience in trust accounting, preferably within the real estate industry.
In-depth knowledge of trust account legislation.
Strong working knowledge of trust accounting systems, preferably Property Me or similar.
High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills.
Problem-solving mindset with ability to resolve trust discrepancies.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
Comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
Leadership capability to guide and uplift team performance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
