Job summary

BlueScope Steel Limited seeks an experienced Treasury Executive to join its regional finance team in Malaysia. Reporting to the Regional Treasury Manager, you will oversee daily cash management, banking relations, funding, and payment operations to ensure liquidity and regulatory compliance.

You will coordinate intercompany funding, monitor foreign exchange exposures, and maintain accurate treasury records, with a focus on efficiency, risk mitigation, and service quality across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business.
• Minimum 5 years Corporate Treasury working experience or in related field.
• Knowledge in electronic banking system and ERP system.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cash management daily liquidity and ensure funds for working capital.
• Coordinate banking relations including KYC, FATCA and account openings/closures.
• Manage intercompany funding programs and funding facility utilization.
• Prepare monthly cash forecasts and end-to-end payment processes.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Treasury Executive to join our regional finance team, treasury department based in Malaysia. Reporting to the Regional Treasury Manager, this key individual will be responsible for overall treasury and payment operations by delivering quality services to NS BlueScope. They will ensure compliance with internal policies, guidelines and local country’s banking and exchange control regulations in day-to-day conduct of cash management activities. Act as a subject matter expert for Treasury and Payment process.**Main responsibilities will include:** **Cash Management*** Manage the daily liquidity of the companies by ensuring efficient use of cash flow and adequate funds for working capital requirement.* Prepare monthly cash forecast.* Arrange funds transfer, borrowing and placement. **Banking Account Management*** Coordinate and administer with business entities and banks on bank related matters such as opening and closing of bank accounts, Know Your Customer (KYC), Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and other banking related matters. **Funding Management*** Manage cash borrowing needs across multiple lending facilities.* Identifies banking products that offer competitive pricing and recommends for working capital funding* Assist in application, renewal and cancellation of Bank Guarantee.* Manage trade facilities such as letter of credit, banker acceptance, trade loan, bank guarantee including submission of applications, follow up to ensure timely issuance and recording of facilities utilization.* Manage intercompany funding programs using cash sweeping structures, intercompany loans or deposit transactions.* Conduct regular meeting with business unit to understand the funding requirements. **Management of Banking Facilities*** Administer the loan documentation for inter-company and external financing by co-ordinating with Corporate and/or bank on loan agreements and ensuring the documents are duly executed and filed.* Provide timely update for interest rates adjustment and notify affected business entities.* Manage overall banking relationship and support in establishing new and/or renewing existing credit facility. Prepare the compliance certificates on loan covenants to banks. **Banking and Exchange Control Regulatory compliance*** Act as liaison officer by engaging Central Bank for clarification on queries or issues pertaining to regulatory requirement and compliance.* Support line manager on Central Bank applications.* Support business unit stakeholders in interpreting local exchange control / banking regulations and develop the appropriate process in ensuring compliance to regulatory environment. **Foreign Exchange Management*** Work with business unit to identify, monitor and manage the currency exposures.* Support the local commercial team in the preparation of foreign exchange exposure report and hedge proposal* Hedge the FX exposure by entering into approved hedging instrument with financial institutions. Record the hedged contract and perform settlement on contract maturity date.* Review and post mark to market results at month end in a timely and accurate manner.* Perform monthly month end revaluation for balance sheet exposures. **Payment*** Manage end to end payment process* Process ad hoc payment request in a timely manner.* Manage payment for employees such as employee claims and cash advance.* Work with cash management bank and IS support team to resolve payment related issues.* Perform timely payment update to reflect an accurate vendor balance.* Respond queries raised by vendors and business units in a timely manner.* Manage returned payment advised by bank and follow up with the relevant parties to rectify the issue and re-process payment.* Manage payment exception cases such as lost cheques, unpresented cheques, cheques cancellation etc. **Bank Reconciliation*** Ensure timely posting of treasury and payment related transactions* Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and identify discrepancies for follow up action.* Prepare the necessary adjustment transactions to reflect the correct accounting records. **Reporting*** Prepare periodic reports on funding, bank guarantee, letter of credit and cash balances in an accurate and timely manner.* Provide funding status report on newly established and /or renewed credit facilities **Services Management*** Execute work in accordance with the service management framework.* Ensure queries from business units, banks and Corporate Treasury (Headquarter) are attended to and resolved in a timely manner.* Establish and maintain good working relationship with business units and relevant stakeholders. **Others*** Participate in internal and external audit and respond to queries in a timely manner.* Manage queries in Accounting Matters For Consideration (AMFC), Directors and Business Risk Management Questionnaire, Stewardship etc. **Continuous Improvement*** Recommend and implement improvement in relation to treasury and payment process.* Participate in project and initiatives across multiple functional areas and regions. **Qualifications, skills and experience required include:*** Ideally a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business* Minimum 5 years Corporate Treasury working experience or in related field.* Knowledge in electronic banking system and ERP system* External experience in a shared service or regional treasury environment will be preferred* Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships with different stakeholders* Meticulous and analytical* A committed and proactive team player, with good interpersonal skills* Self-motivated individual requiring limited supervision with passion for excellence* Ability to recognize issues, identify resolution and escalate problems if necessary.
