The Opportunity:

Ichiplas seeks an experienced and collaborative Tooling Manager to lead our Tooling Department. As our Tooling Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational excellence of our existing moulds while also providing crucial technical expertise to secure new business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead, mentor, and develop the Tooling Department team
2. Ensure departmental compliance with safety regulations, quality standards (e.g., ISO), and company policies.
3. Oversee the management of tooling spare parts inventory and related procurement.
4. Tooling Maintenance & Optimization:
5. Plan and oversee all tool maintenance schedules, repairs, and modification activities to minimize downtime and ensure tool availability.
6. Collaborate closely with Production and Engineering teams to troubleshoot tooling issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve productivity and part quality.
7. Continuously monitor tooling performance and implement process improvements using methodologies like lean manufacturing.
8. New Tooling Projects & Quotation Support:
9. Oversee the procurement, external fabrication, and rigorous testing of new tooling and components, ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and budgets.
10. Actively support sales in bidding exercises, such as evaluating tooling feasibility, cost estimations, and lead-time projections.
11. Liaise effectively with external toolmakers and suppliers, review design drawings, and manage vendor performance to ensure high-quality outcomes.

What You'll Bring (Qualifications):

1. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in plastic injection mold tooling, encompassing design principles, maintenance, and/or project management.
2. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of injection mold design, construction, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings. Familiarity with CAD software.
3. Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
4. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills focused on addressing tooling challenges efficiently.
5. Continuous Improvement: Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and a mindset for continuous improvement is highly advantageous.
