Overview

Company: Armstrong Electronics Sdn Bhd

Location: Kulai, Johor

We are looking for a dynamic and creative person to join our team.

Compulsory-Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineer, Tooling and any related field.

Responsibilities

1. Tooling Designer

  • Experience in Design new tooling, tooling modification and de-flashing Jig & fixture.
  • Preparing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for customer approval and tool maker.
  • Collaborate with tool maker, process and tooling team to provide product recommendations for tooling improvement.
  • Collaborate and review tooling construction/DFM with process team before tooling fabrication.
  • Provide creative solutions to mold design and determine its suitability to existing process and machine in production.
  • Tooling improvement to contribute into yield improvement, productivity and reliability.
  • Ensure mold dimensions and basic qualities are met prior to actual mold-running evaluation.
  • To support FA tooling buy-off activities such as mold testing and trouble-shooting of mold related issues.
  • Maintain a systematic filing of all tooling related documents e.g. PRs, quotations, drawings, DFM, tooling history, tooling measurements, etc.
  • Continuous improve QRF processing time with tooling quotation follow up and compile tooling comparison quote.
  • Document all new tooling activation activities such as comparison quote and tooling construction.
  • VMM & CMM measurement for tooling buy-off.
  • Work on tooling damage preventive action.
  • Updating of all tooling related documents to reflect the latest and correct status.
  • Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or Manager.
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics, Tools & Die)
  • Min 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering/rubber industry
  • Ability to operate CMM machine and write dimensional report.
  • Knowledge in 2D and 3D software such as Solidworks and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Able to perform tooling construction and DFM document.

2. Tooling Engineer

  • The Tooling Engineer for Rubber Moulding is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of mould tools to ensure efficient and high-quality rubber production. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to support new product introduction, tooling validation, and root cause analysis of moulding issues.
  • Ensure product tooling requirements are clearly defined, accurately quoted, and effectively managed throughout production.
  • Monitor and coordinate all tooling-related activities, including: Tooling improvement initiatives, Tooling rectification work, Resolution of quality tooling issues, Tooling testing and part measurement, Tooling chrome plating, Tracking and acknowledging progress on tooling improvements related to quality issues.
  • Coordinate and monitor tooling buy-off activities, and establish a backup plan to address any issues, such as receiving tooling in poor condition, in order to prevent testing failures and schedule delays.
  • Support new tooling ETA date to ensure the ETA date before ISIR submission sample schedule.
  • Monitor the EOL tooling (tooling condition and location).
  • Oversee and control CIRO tooling expenses as per budget plan.
  • To ensure Tooling technician able to perform tooling buyoff
  • Minimum of fresh or 2 years’ experience. Preferably from manufacturing industry and rubber moulding background.
  • Hands-on experience in rubber mould design, troubleshooting, and improvement.
  • Experience in managing new tool development from design to commissioning and buy-off.
  • Familiar with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) principles and collaboration with suppliers, machinists, and mould makers.
  • Exposure to precision machining, CNC milling, EDM, surface finishing and tool validation processes.
  • Preferable experience in a high-mix, low-volume production environment or automotive/medical/industrial rubber products industry.

Candidates with more than 10 years experience (Bachelor Degree and Mandarin Speaker) are welcome to apply for managerial role.

Candidates from Rubber Moulding and/or Plastic Injection experience is added advantage.
