Job description

Testing & Commissioning Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Testing & Commissioning Supervisor to lead commissioning operations within our new semiconductor equipment manufacturing hub.

During the initial phase, you will take full ownership of the Testing and Commissioning area and actively support as well as shape the setup of the production environment, including workstation preparation, process implementation, tool validation, and team onboarding. As operations ramp up, the role will evolve into a structured shopfloor leadership position, ensuring safe, high-quality, and on‑time assembly of complex mechanical and electrical systems.

You will lead, manage, and develop a skilled team of technicians while driving continuous process improvement and operational excellence. By implementing AIXTRON Group standards in line with industry best practices, maintaining up‑to‑date procedures, and ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements, you will contribute to consistent, high‑quality performance.

You will diagnose and resolve issues within PLC‑controlled assemblies and critical components such as proximity, temperature, and pressure sensors. Working in accordance with structured test procedures, your team will play a key role in ensuring quality, reliability, and on‑time delivery. Beyond commissioning, you’ll complete detailed test documentation, support cross‑functional teams with your technical expertise, and help maintain a safe, organized, and high‑performing test environment.

This role requires strong technical expertise combined with proven team leadership capabilities in a fast‑paced, high‑tech manufacturing environment. Shop Floor management effectiveness is a must.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise electrical and mechanical test and commissioning teams on the shopfloor, in‑line with standardized procedures. Ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets and elevate critical issues to the Production Director as required.
  • Actively support the factory setup phase, including workstation preparation, tool validation, process implementation, and initial build execution.
  • Ensure correct and compliant execution of testing and commissioning procedures, technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Oversee commissioning of PLC‑controlled assemblies, proximity sensors, temperature sensors, and pressure sensors.
  • Complete standard and special test documentation for all testing and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor daily production performance, manage work allocation and resource planning, and ensure adherence to production schedules and delivery commitments.
  • Drive shopfloor discipline and EHS compliance, promoting 5S standards, ergonomic practices, and a strong safety culture.
  • Troubleshoot any issues together with Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain to ensure structured, timely, and sustainable problem resolution.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) and pilot builds, ensuring build readiness, structured feedback to Engineering, and a smooth production ramp‑up.
  • Coach and develop technicians and operators, providing hands‑on technical guidance, structured training, and performance feedback.
  • Ensure full traceability, including testing records, deviation management, and quality verification processes.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the shopfloor.
  • Collaborate closely with Logistics, Quality, and Industrial Engineering to ensure products are built on time, to specification, and in alignment with operational standards.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline (recognized Malaysian or international institution).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in electrical and mechanical testing and commissioning of complex equipment, preferably within semiconductor or high‑tech manufacturing industry.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a production environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical assembly documentation.
  • Solid hands‑on experience in equipment build, system integration, and structured troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience in vacuum system assembly and leak testing is advantageous; orbital or manual TIG welding certification/experience is a strong plus.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with strong leadership presence, capable of motivating and guiding technicians in a structured shopfloor environment.
  • Good understanding of EHS regulations, quality standards, and structured production control, ideally within ISO‑controlled environments.
  • Experience supporting production ramp‑ups, transfers, or greenfield setups is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken); ability to operate effectively in a multicultural and international manufacturing environment. Knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is an advantage.
Working Conditions
  • Role based at AIXTRON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, at our Batu Kawan site.
  • Clean room production shopfloor environment.
  • Occasional travel to Headquarters in Germany or other regional sites.
  • Willingness to work in a shift‑based production environment, initially within a two‑shift model, with readiness to rotate shifts as required during ramp‑up and serial production phases.
  • Flexibility to provide weekend and public holiday coverage in line with operational requirements.
  • Availability for overtime during ramp‑up phases or peak production periods, as necessary to meet delivery commitments.
  • All working arrangements will be in full compliance with the Malaysian Employment Act and applicable labour regulations.
