Job summary

Sanmina Corporation is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician in Penang to promptly diagnose downtime, perform electrical and mechanical repairs, and ensure hardware readiness for continuous production. The role involves setup, calibration, routine maintenance, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across lean projects.

Qualifications

• Education: Professional Certificate or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering.
• 1–2 years hands-on experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Battery maintenance or assembly exposure preferred.
• Direct experience with listed production equipment is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Downtime Response & Repair: diagnose and resolve failures in non-functioning production/test equipment.
• Equipment Setup & Changeovers: perform setups, calibrations, and changeovers for continuous production lines.
• Technical Maintenance: dismantle, adjust, repair, and reassemble machinery per manuals and schematics.
• Testing & Modifications: use diagnostic tools for post-repair checkouts and authorized modifications under guidance.
• Continuous Improvement: contribute to Lean Six Sigma projects to reduce waste and improve line efficiency.

Job description

• Downtime Response & Repair: Promptly attend to equipment downtime, performing rapid electrical, mechanical, or software troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve failures in non-functioning production and test equipment.
• Equipment Setup & Changeovers: Execute precise equipment setups, calibrations, and changeover activities to ensure total hardware readiness for continuous production lines.
• Technical Maintenance: Dismantle, adjust, repair, and reassemble highly specialized manufacturing machinery according to blueprint layouts, operating manuals, and engineering schematics.
• Testing & Modifications: Use technical diagnostic and electrical testing tools to complete post-repair checkouts and perform authorized equipment modifications under the direction of manufacturing and test engineers.
• Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in both technical optimization tasks and non-technical structural initiatives, including contributing to Lean Six Sigma projects to reduce waste and maximize line efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Education: Minimum of a Professional Certificate or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• Experience: 1 to 2 years of hands‑on experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably with specific exposure to battery maintenance or assembly processes.
• Technical Experience would be added advantage: Direct experience in the setup, calibration, and repair of the following production equipment is highly desired:
  • Resistance Welders & Ultrasonic Welders
  • Electrical Testing Equipment
  • Auto-soldering Stations
  • UV Glue Dispensing and Curing Systems

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Technical Troubleshooting: Demonstrated competency diagnosing hardware and control system failures across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
• Technical Literacy: Proficient in reading, interpreting, and applying engineering drawings, electrical schematics, component layouts, and blueprints.
• Operational Discipline & Safety Mastery: Uncompromising commitment to strict safety protocols, maintaining focus and calm efficiency during high‑pressure "Line Down" scenarios to support production uptime.
• Communication & Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and verbal skills; ability to provide clear, accurate status updates regarding equipment state and repairs to supervisors and cross‑functional team members.
