Test Engineer

The company has three manufacturing sites and R&D offices in Penang, producing automotive electronics, power tools, and steering systems. A new plant, PgP5, has been established in Batu Kawan, Penang, focusing on semiconductor final testing, with operations starting in 2023.

Job Description

1. Serve as the primary interface responsible for all tester system and test program topics.
2. Set up complex test systems, including minor modifications to existing test programs based on specifications, and release of test programs and systems following procedures.
3. Ensure system readiness per specifications, define maintenance and calibration plans, and carry out these activities.
4. Lead troubleshooting, analysis, repair, and documentation of test system downtimes, including failure localization.
5. Instruct operators and service teams in line with work instructions and coordinate with production management.
6. Collaborate with test system suppliers for complex issues and spare parts management.
7. Participate in engineering, project, and 8D teams, including leading teams when necessary.
8. Act as the main contact for test system suppliers and engineering, managing appointments, technical discussions, and delivery schedules.
9. Manage documentation related to test systems, such as work instructions, troubleshooting guides, release and maintenance guidelines, FMEA, and control plans.
10. Achieve yield and test time targets, and implement improvements.
11. Analyze test data and MES to optimize test time, yield, and depth; explore innovative data analysis and AI solutions.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with at least 3 years in test engineering functions.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Software Engineering.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and teamwork abilities.
• Experience sourcing off-the-shelf solutions, analyzing production/test problems, and resolving them.
• Understanding of programming languages.
• Ability to lead technical discussions, guide a team of engineers, and instruct operators.
• Knowledge of lean processes, quality, cost, and delivery correlations, with a focus on cost savings and CO2 reduction.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
