The Technician for Solid Carbide Cutting Tool will work on the research and development of new solid carbide cutting tools for the machining industry. The position involves assisting in the design, prototyping, and testing of new cutting tool concepts, collaborating with manufacturing teams to optimize tool manufacturing processes, performing analysis and testing of cutting tool performance, and participating in design reviews.

Conduct research and development of new solid carbide cutting tools.

Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of new cutting tool concepts.

Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize tool manufacturing processes.

Perform analysis and testing of cutting tool performance to identify areas for improvement.

Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to senior engineers.

Keep up-to-date with advancements in machining technology and cutting tool design.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of research, design, and testing activities.

Assist in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and proposals related to cutting tool research and development.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of projects.

Conduct competitor analysis and benchmarking studies to identify market trends and potential opportunities.

Work with senior engineers to develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.

Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams, as required.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all aspects of work.

Continuously improve knowledge and skills through training, attending conferences, and staying updated with industry developments.

Competencies and Skills required

Equip with a standard tool design skill to make sure the prototype tool that we produce is logical and based on the Design of experiments (DOE).

Strong reserve engineering of cutting tool skills to shorten the product development cycle time.

Strong project management skills by using tools for tracking such as Asana, and Google classrooms able to track all project statuses…etc.

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Assist on how to gather and interpret market data and research on products and able to analyze product specifications and requirements.

The Assistant R&D Engineer must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, sales, and marketing, to deliver projects successfully.

Qualifications and Experience:

Technical Skills: The candidate should be proficient in CAD software and have the ability to read engineering drawings. Experience with CNC programming and simulation software is also a plus.

Effective communication and simple presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Strong collaboration skills, to foster collaboration across all levels of the organization and with customers and end-users.

Able to write, speak and understand English; other languages are a plus.

Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Metal Fabrication/Tool & Die/Welding), Engineering (Mechatronic/Electromechanical) or equivalent.

At least 2 years of experience in the Manufacturing Environment is an added advantage
