Job summary

A laboratory technician role is available at an environmental services firm in Johor. The primary responsibilities include sampling wastewater, conducting tests, and supporting research efforts. Candidates with a minimum of 1 year experience in wastewater treatment are preferred. Salary is offered between RM1,700 and RM2,500 monthly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory glassware and equipment handling.

Responsibilities

  • Collect wastewater samples and monitor production and wastewater operations.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests such as COD and pH analysis.
  • Prepare samples for ICP-OES analysis and maintain laboratory standards.

Job description

TECHNICIAN - LAB JOB DESCRIPTION

Collect wastewater samples from the plant as per scheduled routines and ad-hoc requests.

Communicate effectively with relevant personnel, especially those involved in production and wastewater operations, to coordinate sampling and monitoring activities.

Able to prepare and conduct jar test for evaluating coagulant and flocculant performance.

Perform scheduled IETS (Industrial Effluent Treatment System) monitoring in compliance with regulatory standards.

Conduct routine laboratory tests such as COD and pH analysis, including basic calculations and data recording.

Assist in the preparation of samples for ICP-OES analysis, including processes such as grinding, dilution, and digestion.

Replace and handle gas cylinders used in the ICP-OES instrument safely and responsibly.

Maintain the laboratory in a clean, organized, and safe condition in line with good laboratory housekeeping practices.

Support the sample preparation team by following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Demonstrate basic knowledge and safe handling of laboratory glassware and equipment, including the proper use of micropipettes and measuring instruments.

Understands basic QC procedures including sampling, testing, and documentation.

Able to conduct R&D for treatment purpose.

Minimum 1 Year experience in WWTP is an advantage.
