Technician III - Test

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Test Technician performs engineering work. Work at this level is not complex. Some wide variety of complex technical tasks will have engineer’s instructions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs calibration checks on electronic instruments.
2. Perform unit tests to support production schedule.
3. Conducts semi-routine engineering and detailed experimental tests.
4. Keeps detailed and accurate logs on all assigned activities.
5. Participate in yield and continuous improvement action.
6. Help to control SPC and GR&R.
7. Assists engineers in the design, development, construction, and evaluation of test fixtures and equipment.
8. Understands, sustains, and maintains the test program, maintains the test equipment system with Test Engineer support.
9. Adhere to organizational requirements on quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies, and general duty of care.
10. Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the production processes and components, business, and other technology including materials.
11. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat
• Works in a fast-paced manufacturing/engineering lab environment.
• Completes many repetitive tasks that include the use of electronic equipment.
• Operates sampling and real-time oscilloscopes, pulse generators, meters, power supplies, and special test fixtures.
• Works under direct supervision and gets support from engineers sometimes to understand new tasks.
• Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read electronic schematics.
• Ability to exercise good judgment to resolve problems.
• Good communication ability and teamwork.
• Knowledge of testing instruments, such as Digital Scope, DMM, Generator, computer, etc.
• Knowledge of Basic English ability, reading ability is preferred.
• Good computational and technical skills.
• Ability to work independently and be creative.

EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
• Knowledge of Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Desirable:

• Basic English knowledge.
• ESD knowledge.
• 5S knowledge.
• Product test procedure knowledge.

EDUCATION:

• Technical school or Diploma level in a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
