The EMS Manufacturing Technician is responsible for supporting the production, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic products within an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment. The role requires adherence to quality standards, production schedules, and safety procedures while ensuring the efficient manufacture of electronic assemblies and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble electronic products, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), and subassemblies according to work instructions and engineering specifications.
- Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment, including SMT, through-hole, and automated assembly systems.
- Perform functional, electrical, and visual inspections of products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty assemblies and electronic devices.
- Conduct testing using equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and automated test systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
- Maintain accurate production, testing, and repair records.
- Support process improvements to increase productivity and reduce defects.
- Follow IPC standards, quality management requirements, and company procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality personnel, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, Technical Certificate, or Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, assembly, or testing preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic components, PCB assembly processes, and manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with manufacturing systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification.
- Experience with SMT and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience using ERP or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
