Job summary

A prominent retail company in Kuantan is looking for a Maintenance Technician to ensure the efficiency of M & E systems and provide building maintenance. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently. Flexibility to work long hours and weekends is required. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in M & E systems maintenance.
  • Experience in a shopping complex or service industry preferred.
  • Ability to write short reports.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and electrical functions for the efficient and smooth operation of all M & E systems, and ensure that all systems and equipment within the mall are in good condition.
  • Perform any electrical or technical assignments assigned by superiors. Work closely with superiors on job assignments and refer to them for guidance in the event of problems or difficulties.
  • Carry out post-repairs or installation checks to ensure that the installation concerned is in good condition.
  • Attend to tenants’ requests, feedback, or complaints on M & E related matters (e.g., electrical trip, breakdown). Perform hands-on troubleshooting or repair jobs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out routine and preventive maintenance for office tools, machines and equipment. Attend to and resolve day-to-day activities on the company’s tools and equipment.
  • Perform systematic servicing of equipment and carry out minor repairs or troubleshooting as required. Monitor term contractors in their routine service activities (e.g., major repair works, grease trip service).
  • Perform monthly checks on fire extinguishers to prevent discharge and on fire-hose reel boxes to prevent spoilage.
  • Provide support in Car Park operations, including systems, equipment, Parking Guidance System (PGS), and daily collection in accordance with the schedule.
Building Maintenance
  • Perform a variety of building maintenance functions to ensure that all building facilities are maintained at high standards.
  • Perform any building maintenance assignments as directed by superiors. Work closely with superiors on job assignments and refer to them for further advice or guidance in case of problems or difficulties.
  • Prepare and paint walls and woodwork or perform other types of refinishing; install carpet and perform custodial duties as required.
  • Perform other building maintenance functions in areas such as cement works, carpentry, plumbing, staining and varnishing, faucet repair, caulking, measuring, sewage disposal, sanitary service, etc.
  • Attend to tenants’ requests, feedback, or complaints on building-related matters (e.g., leaks, cracking, damp, clogged drains). Perform hands-on troubleshooting or repair work in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Perform systematic servicing of equipment and carry out minor repairs or troubleshooting as required. Monitor term contractors in their routine service, such as major repair works and grease/trip services.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; Secondary Higher Qualification preferably from Vocational School.
  • Possession of an AO Chargeman Certification from Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in maintenance of M & E systems and/or building maintenance, preferably in a shopper complex environment or service industry.
  • Good technical knowledge and hands-on skills in electrical and mechanical and/or building maintenance. Familiar with operation and maintenance of equipment in the area of expertise.
  • Ability to troubleshoot by effectively determining causes of operating errors or defects and carry out relevant rectification using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Computer literate with ability to write short reports.
  • Honest, reliable and self-motivated with a mature and responsible attitude to work.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision with a sense of responsibility and urgency.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, public holidays, and to rotate on shifts.
