Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim in Malaysia is seeking a Technical Manager, Swine to provide scientific and technical information to support the OPU and other stakeholders. You will build relationships with local and international key opinion leaders, offer technical support to customers, and contribute to developing technical knowledge within the organization.

You will spend time in the field with the sales team, participate in field trials, and help implement product strategies, launches, and marketing

Qualifications

• Veterinary Medicine degree or higher required.
• Minimum 3 years in a technical role.
• Broad knowledge of AH industry or related field.
• Strong business mindset and high integrity.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing situations; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Support OPU strategy implementation with Head of OPU and ROPU Technical Manager.
• Provide technical support to colleagues and key customers in the OPU.
• Assist country technical team with escalated technical issues.
• Support product launches in collaboration with OPU leadership.
• Deliver in-depth technical training and consultations on products/disease areas to country teams and customers.
• Lead field trials and maintain close engagement with AH trends and customer needs.
• Assist in developing marketing strategies and brand plans for assigned products.

Job description

The Technical Manager, Swine is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and providing relevant scientific and technical information to support the OPU and other stakeholders. In this role, you will build and maintain strong relationships with international and local key opinion leaders, provide technical support to customers, and contribute to the development of technical knowledge within the organization.

You will serve as a trusted scientific resource, supporting product-related discussions, addressing technical inquiries, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to advance technical and business objectives within the swine industry.

Tasks & responsibilities

Execution

• Supports the implementation of OPU strategy in close collaboration with the OPU Business Segment Head and ROPU Technical Manager.
• Provide technical support to the technical colleagues and key customers in the OPU.
• Support the country technical team in managing and solving escalated technical issues.
• Support product launch process in collaboration with OPU Business Segment Head.
• Provide in-depth technical training and consultation regarding the assigned product(s)/disease area(s) to country colleagues and key customers.
• Initiate, co-ordinate and follow up on field trials within country.
• Spends a significant amount of working time in the field with the sales team and independently to keep in touch with AH trends, customer needs and technical support.
• Assist the Business Segment Head in developing marketing strategies and brand plans for assigned product(s).

Communication/Collaboration

• Attend internal and external meetings/congresses regarding the assigned product(s)/disease areas
• Coordination and act as contact point for country with ROPU Technical Manager.
• Communicate data from studies and other technical information to Business Segment members, technical colleagues, customers, opinion leaders and other relevant stakeholders.
• Responsible for exchange of technical information regarding the assigned products in the country; including technical papers.

Business Oriented

• Contribute to customers, Key Account Management, and opinion leaders.
• Contribute/attend/organize internal and external meetings/congresses regarding the assigned product portfolios/disease areas.

Requirements

• Veterinary Medicine degree / Master's or doctorate degree
• Minimum experience in technical area at least 3 years
• Broad knowledge about AH industry or related field
• Strong business mindset
• High integrity and ethical standards
• Flexibility, open to change, adapts to the changing situations
• Strong analytical ability & collaboration with others
• Good listening skills, strong communicator
• Self-supporting, takes initiative, autonomous
• Fluency in both written and spoken English with fluency in written and spoken Chinese preferred.
