Assistant Technical Manager
The Assistant Technical Manager will support the Technical Manager in the planning, installation, and maintenance of technical systems for immersive digital art exhibitions, cultural galleries, and related events. The role focuses on assisting in the operation of digital displays, AV equipment, interactive installations, and managing event coordination tools such as point-of-sale systems, ticketing platforms, and Android QR handheld scanners.
Job Description
Assist in the execution and management of technical components for exhibitions, ensuring they meet required standards.
Support the Technical Manager in overseeing digital displays, AV equipment, lighting, and interactive technologies (AR/VR), ensuring proper function.
Installation & Maintenance Support
- Assist with the setup, configuration, and calibration of digital equipment (e.g., projectors, LED walls, touchscreens).
- Provide support during exhibitions by troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring smooth operation of installations.
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance and updates of PCs, beam projectors, and other hardware and software used during exhibitions and events.
- Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers for timely delivery of technical equipment.
- Evaluate new technologies and tools that could enhance future exhibitions and visitor experiences.
- Assist in managing and guiding the technical staff, ensuring that instructions from the Technical Manager are followed.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including marketing and operations, to ensure cohesive project management and execution.
Budgeting & Resource Management
- Assist in managing technical resources (hardware, software) under the guidance of the Technical Manager to meet project deadlines.
- Monitor the use of resources to maintain cost‑effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in digital technologies and research new tech solutions to improve exhibitions.
- Provide input on potential tech‑driven solutions to enhance the overall visitor experience and create new marketing opportunities.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all technical installations comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices, including electrical and structural safety.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4‑6 years of progressive experience in technical project support, preferably in the digital art, museum, exhibition, or event management industries.
- Experience with point‑of‑sale systems, ticketing platforms, and Android QR handheld scanners for inventory management, visitor check‑ins, and event coordination.
- Working knowledge of digital art technologies, including projection systems, AV equipment, and interactive technologies (AR/VR).
- Experience supporting teams and coordinating with cross‑functional departments.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Familiarity with network, server infrastructure & remote management systems is essential.
- Responsible for overseeing and safeguarding equipment at the outlet.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in the art, technology, or immersive experience industry is a plus.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work closely with Korean content producers and manage content from Korea remotely in Malaysia.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing new tech solutions to enhance visitor experiences and marketing opportunities.
