Job summary

METTLER TOLEDO in Malaysia seeks a Data Steward Lead to manage master data within SAP, ensuring governance, quality, and policy compliance across business units. You will guide and train teams, coordinate with local units and shared centers, and drive improvements in data maintenance and lifecycle management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in data management, data analysis, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in leadership within an SAP environment.
• Working hours 8am to 5pm Malaysia local time.
• Proficient in SAP and data analysis tools such as Excel.
• Fluent in English; additional languages a plus.
• Knowledge of data governance principles and practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Advanced degree and/or certification in data management or related field is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Foster relationships and communication between local units and shared service centers for consistent data practices.
• Collaborate with Data Governance and other departments to resolve data-related issues and improve data management processes.

• Guide business users through changes in data management processes and policies.
• Oversee data maintenance requests to align with policies and rules.
• Monitor data quality metrics and address issues across the data lifecycle.
• Regularly review and cleanse data with business users as applicable.
• Serve as go-to resource for data-related queries from stakeholders.

Our Opening & Your Responsibilities

Lead a team responsible for managing and ensuring the quality and integrity of master data within SAP systems. The Data Steward team is responsible for overseeing data management activities within their business unit(s). As a quality gatekeeper, the Data Steward team ensures adherence to data policies and standards, enabling data quality assurance across data processing activities. This role involves educating and training business personnel, fostering collaboration among departments to ensure efficient execution of data maintenance tasks, and driving initiatives to enhance data quality. By supporting their business unit(s) in following standardized processes, the Data Steward team plays a crucial role in promoting accurate and consistent data throughout the organization.

• Lead, mentor, and manage the Data Steward team to achieve data quality and governance objectives
• Foster strong relationships and communication between local units and shared business center to ensure consistent data practices, share insights, and coordinate data management effectively
• Collaborate with Data Governance and other departments to resolve data-related issues and facilitate improvements in data management processes
• Ensure adherence to established data governance policies and business rules, advocating for their importance among team members and business users
• Guide and support business users through changes in data management processes, data policies, and/or business rules to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption
• Request, approve and/or oversee data maintenance requests, ensuring they align with data policies and business rules
• Monitor and assess data quality metrics, taking proactive steps to address any quality issues that arise within the data lifecycle
• Regularly review and cleanse data to maintain accuracy, integrity, and compliance with data quality standards, in conjunction with business users where applicable
• Serve as the go-to person for data-related queries from all potential stakeholders, providing guidance and insights as needed

What You Need to Succeed

• Minimum 3 years of experience in data management, data analysis, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of leadership and team management within an SAP environment
• Working hours 8am to 5pm Malaysia local time
• Proficient in SAP and data analysis tools such as Excel
• Fluent in English. Knowledge of other languages an added asset
• Knowledge of data governance principles and practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams
• Advanced degree and/or certification in data management or related field is advantageous
