Teach For Malaysia is seeking a dedicated Fellowship Coach to support a 2-year leadership development programme for Fellows. You will coach across leadership and pedagogy, visit classrooms, and guide Fellows using structured development plans.

The role requires strong coaching skills, data-informed decision-making, and collaboration with school partners, with travel to various placement sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferably in under-resourced or high-need school environments.
  • Understanding of coaching principles, learning cycles, and adult development.
  • Experience in facilitating training or group learning sessions.
  • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data to inform coaching and instructional improvements.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Zoom, Salesforce, or Confluence.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across states and rural areas, with flexible hours including weekends.

Employment Type: Full time, 1-Year Contract (Renewable)

Role Purpose

Provides coaching, training, and support to a cohort of Fellows across a 2-year leadership development programme to build their capacity as leaders who drive meaningful student impact.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Coach Fellows in their leadership and pedagogical development through personalised support, including regular school visits, classroom observations, and one-on-one coaching conversations.
  • Guide Fellows in setting and achieving ambitious student and leadership goals, using development planning and coaching frameworks.
  • Build and facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), training sessions, and reflection spaces that promote collaboration, peer learning, and contextually relevant skill-building.
  • Monitor Fellow progress by capturing and analysing student and leadership development data, and adjust coaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate and engage with school administrators, mentors, and district/state education stakeholders to build trust and ensure Fellows are supported in their placement schools.
  • Work cross-functionally with the Training & Support team to align Fellow development with national strategies and regional context.
  • Contribute to the design and facilitation of Fellowship-wide events and initiatives, such as Induction, conferences, and community engagement days.
  • Continuously improve your own coaching practice through feedback, peer learning, and internal training.

  • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data to inform coaching and instructional improvements.
  • Skilled in managing diverse stakeholders and building meaningful relationships with school leaders, teachers, and education officers.
  • Demonstrates cultural humility, empathy, and respect when working with Fellows and communities across varied backgrounds.
  • Technologically fluent with Google Workspace, Zoom, and ideally platforms like Salesforce, Confluence, or other digital learning systems.
  • Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (owning a car is an added advantage), including across states and to rural areas, and to work flexible hours including weekends and extended school engagements when necessary.
  • Builds authentic, trust-based relationships with Fellows, school partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates personal ownership over student and Fellow outcomes, and takes initiative to solve challenges.
  • Coaches and empowers Fellows with clarity, empathy, and accountability.
  • Embraces feedback and reflects consistently to grow in coaching and leadership.
  • Responds to changing contexts with resilience, creativity, and a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Collaborates across teams to ensure alignment and deliver a cohesive Fellow experience.
  • Models TFM's core values and contributes to a positive, impact-driven team culture
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience, including at least 2 years of classroom teaching.
  • Coaching, mentoring, or adult facilitation experience is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Malaysian education system and experience working with schools or education stakeholders is an advantage.
  • A Bachelor's degree in any field is required, with a basic teaching qualification such as a PGCE or DPLI.
