We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join JOYOUS in Johor Bahru, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting the early childhood education environment. As a Teacher Assistant, you will work alongside experienced educators to create a nurturing, engaging and developmentally appropriate learning space for young children. Your contribution will be essential in fostering a safe, stimulating and inclusive atmosphere where children can thrive and develop foundational skills for lifelong learning.
Key responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing age-appropriate learning activities and play-based experiences for early childhood learners
- Support children with daily routines including meal times, toileting, hygiene and rest periods, ensuring their comfort and safety
- Help maintain a clean, organised and safe classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning
- Provide one-on-one support to children who require additional assistance, recognising and responding to individual needs
- Assist in the supervision and engagement of children during both indoor and outdoor activities
- Support the observation and documentation of children's development and learning progress
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding children's activities, behaviour and developmental milestones
- Follow health and safety protocols, safeguarding policies and best practice standards in early childhood education
- Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating with colleagues and supporting the overall goals of the centre
What we're looking for
- A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development and wellbeing
- Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills with both children and adults
- A basic understanding of child development, early childhood education principles and play-based learning approaches
- Physical ability to lift, carry and support young children safely and comfortably
- Strong commitment to health, safety and safeguarding standards in educational settings
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions from lead teachers
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in early childhood education or care (preferred)
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
- Experience working in early childhood settings (preferred)
