Job summary

Halliburton in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is seeking an experienced tax professional to support reporting, compliance, and planning for the finance function. The role focuses on ensuring accurate tax filings, robust controls, and close collaboration with audit teams.

The candidate will oversee tax-related processes, mentor junior staff, and develop technical memoranda for tax positions in financial statements. A degree in accounting and at least five years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree required in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience.
• Strong understanding of tax regulatory environment.
• Experience with financial close and tax filings.

Responsibilities

• With general autonomy, supports tax reporting, compliance, audit and/or planning with a core understanding of prevailing statutory authority and its applicability to financial data.
• Supports activities surrounding the financial close process, account reconciliations, tax form preparation, and collection of supporting financial pronouncements and tax technical research as applicable.
• Reviews functions of more junior staff and prepares technical memoranda for Tax Managers in support of tax technical positions in financial statements and statutory tax filings.
• Supports audit defense of tax positions taken and considers planning opportunities to optimize the company’s effective tax rate and/or cash tax position.
• May assist with identification, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls.
• Should be generally comfortable with the fundamentals across the group they supervise.
• Responsible for the career development and supervision of personnel within their technical focus area and administers personnel-related functions.
