A leading company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Tax Accountant to manage tax compliance and provide advisory support. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a relevant certification and have 2-3 years of experience in Malaysian tax laws. Proficiency in MS Office and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential. Manage and review all aspects of the company’s tax compliance, including preparation and timely submission of tax returns, payments, and statutory reporting.
Monitor and manage tax obligations across areas such as corporate income tax, SST, withholding tax, stamp duty, and import/export duties, ensuring accurate treatment and reporting.
Support the preparation of monthly and year-end tax provisions in accordance with accounting standards, including deferred tax computations.
Provide tax advisory support on business transactions, contracts, cross-border matters, and new initiatives.
Act as a key liaison during tax audits and queries, coordinating documentation, explanations, and communication with tax authorities.
Ensure proper maintenance of tax records and documentation to support tax positions taken and audits.
Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations; assess their impact and ensure compliance across the business.
Assist in the development and implementation of tax-related internal controls and process improvements.
Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
Working as a team on specific client engagements/ advisory projects.
Job Requirement:
Candidate must possess Bachelor’s Degree majoring in Accounting or a Professional Certificate (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CTIM).
Required skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills, analytical mindset, able to work under tight deadline.
Proficiency in computer programs, such as MS Office (Word, Power Point and Excel) and database systems is an added advantage.
Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience as a Tax Accountant, with a solid understanding of Malaysian tax laws and regulations.
Good communication skills (both written and verbal) in English, Bahasa Malaysia and knowledge of Mandarin will be an added advantage for Chinese speaking Clients.
