Reporting to the Regional Tax Manager, the role focuses on accurate tax reporting, provisions, audits and process improvements, with hands-on exposure to multi-market tax regimes.
We are looking for a Tax Accountant to join the Asia Pacific Finance team based in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Reporting to the Regional Tax Manager, you will support tax accounting and compliance activities across the Asia Pacific region, primarily covering Malaysia, China, Australia, Vietnam, and India.
The role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely tax reporting, compliance, reconciliations, and payments while supporting effective tax controls and processes across the region.
Assist in the preparation and review of corporate income tax and indirect tax returns, working closely with external tax service providers to ensure timely submissions.
Monitor tax filing deadlines and ensure timely settlement of tax payments.
Prepare and review monthly and annual tax provisions, including year-end true-ups, tax account roll-forwards, and deferred tax calculations.
Monitor, analyse, and reconcile tax general ledger (GL) accounts and supporting records.
Review the tax treatment and implications of business transactions to ensure compliance with applicable tax requirements.
Manage and reconcile withholding tax payments and records.
Support transfer pricing documentation and maintain completeness of intercompany agreements.
Maintain and improve tax processes, procedures, and internal controls.
Work with the Accounting team to ensure journal entries are accurately recorded in accordance with tax requirements.
Support internal, external, and tax audits, including preparation of relevant documentation.
Keep up to date with changes in tax regulations and statutory requirements across relevant markets.
Provide additional tax compliance and advisory support to the Regional Tax Manager as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in taxation and accounting, preferably within a tax consulting firm or multinational corporation (MNC).
Solid knowledge and hands‑on experience in international taxation, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions.
Proficiency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin, with the ability to effectively communicate with the China Finance team and regional stakeholders.
Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP FI/CO.
Excellent financial analysis and problem‑solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
