System Administrator III
The System Administrator is responsible for providing operational support for a team managing large-scale systems related to building management and physical security. The role requires a solid understanding of systems administration and networking, working primarily through ticket-based workflows.
Scope
- Resolve a wide range of issues creatively
- Work independently with minimal instruction on routine tasks and guidance on new assignments
Roles and Responsibilities
- Create data center layouts and plan server rack placements
- Assist in capacity management and optimize resource utilization for server deployments
- Support cross-team collaboration to ensure adequate space, power, and rack capacity
- Participate in server delivery projects and system installations
- Support data center design and construction with sustainable solutions
- Install and reinstall server operating systems, troubleshoot hardware issues, and perform maintenance
- Manage data related to assets, ticketing, and rack configurations
- Coordinate with vendors and other teams on hardware issues
- Handle on-call duties for business-related problems
- Manage server lifecycle, perform network troubleshooting, and handle asset configurations
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Ability to work under pressure with strong learning aptitude and broad technical interests
- Good communication skills in English; Mandarin preferred
- Understanding of data center functions, facilities, and basic data analytics
- Experience with mass OS deployment (e.g., PXE boot), scripting (Bash, Python), and automation tools (Ansible)
- Proficiency with Linux systems, hardware fault diagnosis, and network concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, IPv6)
- Knowledge of server management interfaces like IPMI and NCSI
- Strong documentation practices
