Job summary

Smiths Detection in Malaysia is seeking a driven Supply Chain Planner to ensure materials are available to meet customer demand in a dynamic manufacturing setting. You will collaborate with Procurement, Production, Logistics and Suppliers to manage material flow, optimize inventory and maintain production continuity, with strong SAP/ERP planning responsibilities.

The role emphasizes data-driven planning, timely reporting and cross-functional teamwork to improve on-time delivery and inventory

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in Supply Chain Planning, Material Planning, Production Planning or manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience using SAP or other ERP systems for planning and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Execute MRP planning activities within SAP/ERP systems and take actions on rescheduling, pull-ins and push-outs.
• Monitor material availability, stock levels and supply commitments to support production requirements.
• Manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and monitor Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure timely delivery.
• Conduct demand versus supply analysis and identify material shortages.
• Develop and maintain production schedules considering material readiness and capacity constraints.
• Drive material recovery plans and expedite critical deliveries to minimize production disruptions.
• Monitor inventory health including safety stock, MOQ, excess, obsolete and ageing inventory.
• Analyze supplier performance and collaborate with vendors on delivery recovery and lead-time improvements.
• Generate planning reports and insights using Excel and other tools to support decision-making.
• Work cross-functionally to improve planning accuracy, inventory optimization and on-time delivery.

Job Description

At Smiths Detection, we are looking for a driven and analytical Supply Chain Planner to support our manufacturing operations by ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to meet customer demand. This role will work closely with Procurement, Production, Logistics and Suppliers to manage material flow, optimize inventory levels and support production continuity in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

• Execute MRP planning activities within SAP/ERP systems and take appropriate actions on rescheduling, pull-ins and push-outs.
• Monitor material availability, stock levels and supply commitments to support production requirements.
• Manage Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and monitor Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure timely delivery.
• Conduct demand versus supply analysis and proactively identify and mitigate material shortages.
• Develop and maintain production schedules while considering material readiness and capacity constraints.
• Drive material recovery plans and expedite critical deliveries to minimize production disruptions.
• Monitor inventory health, including safety stock, MOQ, excess, obsolete and ageing inventory.
• Analyze supplier performance and collaborate with vendors on delivery recovery and lead-time improvements.
• Generate planning reports and insights using Excel and other analytical tools to support decision-making.
• Work cross-functionally to improve planning accuracy, inventory optimization and on-time delivery performance.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

The ideal candidate will have:

• Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in Supply Chain Planning, Material Planning, Production Planning or a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience using SAP or other ERP systems for planning and inventory management.
• Strong understanding of MRP, demand planning, inventory control and production planning principles.
• Proven ability to perform demand versus supply analysis, shortage management and recovery planning.
• Experience managing supplier commitments, delivery follow-ups and supply recovery activities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP and SUMIFS.
• Exposure to Power Query and/or Power BI would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
