A leading company in the solar energy sector is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement and logistics strategies. The role involves overseeing material availability, optimizing inventory, and developing supplier relationships to ensure efficient project delivery. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong negotiation skills, analytical capability, and leadership experience in supply chain management.
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project delivery and company goals, ensuring material availability while minimising waste and obsolescence. Manage cost initiatives and control purchasing budgets to support competitive pricing.
Collaborate with Sales and Project teams to accurately forecast demand, maintain optimal inventory levels, and optimise purchasing strategies. Proactively find solutions to clear slow-moving stock, ensuring inventory remains agile and cost-effective. Analyse market trends in the solar sector, identifying potential supply chain risks and opportunities (including material prices and shipping costs).
Oversee and coordinate the delivery of materials from warehouses to project sites. Work closely with suppliers, Project teams, and transporters to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
Manage relationships with third-party service providers to handle receiving, storing, and distributing goods, while implementing inventory control systems to maintain accurate stock levels. Ensure warehouse KPIs are met, including safety, security, and compliance with health and safety standards. Conduct regular inventory audits and address discrepancies.
Coordinate and manage transportation fleets and logistics providers, ensuring smooth operations from incoming shipments to final delivery at project sites. Develop cost-effective strategies for warehouse and logistics operations across all regions.
Identify and secure new warehouses, suppliers for solar PV equipment and components, as well as logistics and skylift partners, expanding the supply chain network to support growth and efficiency.
Manage relationships with local and international suppliers, negotiate contracts, and evaluate supplier performance regularly.
Develop and monitor KPIs for supply chain operations, aligning with business growth targets.
Lead and mentor the supply chain team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Implement and manage advanced logistics software and technologies to enhance supply chain visibility and efficiency for residential project deliveries.
Developing and executing procurement strategies aligned with business goals. Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, including demand forecasting, inventory management, and cost control.
Managing logistics, warehousing, and transportation operations, including working with third-party providers. Ability to implement and maintain inventory control systems, conduct audits, and ensure safety and compliance standards are met.
Strong negotiation skills and experience managing relationships with suppliers globally. Ability to source and develop new suppliers and logistics partners to expand the supply chain network.
Capability to analyse market trends, identify risks and opportunities, and develop solutions for inventory challenges, such as clearing slow-moving stock.
Leadership skills to mentor and develop the supply chain team, fostering continuous improvement and innovation.
Experience with implementing advanced logistics software and technologies to improve efficiency and visibility.
Minimum of 8 years in supply chain management, with proven experience in procurement and logistics for B2C and B2B, preferably in energy or construction sectors.
Hands-on experience supervising warehouse operations, logistics coordination, and managing transportation fleets.
Experience sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance.
Strong knowledge of supply chain best practices and technologies, especially in residential markets.
Experience with ERP systems and supply chain management tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven decision-making approach.
Proven leadership in team management, driving performance and development.
Familiarity with the solar PV sector, including regulations and market trends, is a plus.
Proficiency in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin; additional languages are advantageous.
