Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Supply Chain to oversee sourcing, material management, supplier management, supplier contracts and agreements, and inventory control for our client's Malaysia factory. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining a robust supply chain ecosystem that supports the company’s operational goals. This includes ensuring optimal quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery of materials and components. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building strong supplier relationships, negotiating favorable contracts, and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain to support factory performance and business growth.
Key responsibilities
Management
- Plan, execute and monitor milestones according to department goals (KPI).
- Identify training needs and organize the relevant training for the supply chain team.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with operations, engineering, quality and the business unit to meet operations plans, schedules, budgets and KPIs.
- Continuously improve department processes.
- To develop strategic talent within the team to enhance the overall department's skill matrix.
Sourcing
- Implement sourcing strategies to achieve targets on quality, cost savings and material lead time.
- Drive cost savings program and develop the supplier base to support required outsourcing capacities.
- Supplier management including selection and qualification of new suppliers, regular business reviews and development to ensure timely order fulfillment with the best quality, cost, delivery and service performance.
- Manage the RFx process to award business to Company’s supplier in accordance with our supplier strategy.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and protect Company’s interests with contracts and agreements (Master Purchase Agreement (MPA), Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), Supplier Code of Conduct and other applicable policies).
- Plan and execute product phase in/out with other stakeholders.
- Manage the supplier-balanced scorecard process across the top 80% of spend as well as strategic suppliers.
Material Management
- Continuous improvement of the purchasing process.
- Develop and maintain plan for every part for defined configurations.
- Drive liability exposure and inventory levels down while ensuring material lead time and supply continuity per Company’s cycle time targets.
- Monitor the MRP process effectiveness.
- Ensure a clear understanding of the material status per project and drive to solutions for all identified gaps.
- Understand and communicate current and projected supplier capacity.
- Review and optimize safety stock, min/max and related stock program levels.
Requirement And Qualification
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business or a technical position preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in supply chain management.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience within a capital equipment company is preferred.
- Experience in contract manufacturing is an advantage.
Skills/Technical Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain functions supporting Asia-based manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with electromechanical products and fabricated components. Expertise in strategic global sourcing, with a strong preference for experience in outsourcing to cost-effective regions.
- Demonstrated strength in project management, organization, analytics, interpersonal communication, and negotiation.
- High emotional intelligence with an appreciation for the multicultural dynamics of a global organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hands-on experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; experience with Oracle ERP is highly desirable.
Salary: MYR25,000 – MYR40,000 per month
