Job summary

Lam Research in Malaysia’s Penang site seeks a seasoned Supply Chain Business Manager to optimize supplier performance and ensure uninterrupted material flow through the global production cycle.

You will analyze SvD, lead supplier reviews, improve lead times, manage risks, and collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and Quality to drive continuous improvements in supply chain operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in development, management, and improvement of supplier performance metrics.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint, Power BI and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the operational relationship with assigned suppliers for Sheet Metal commodity and act as the primary point of contact for supply chain matters.
• Monitor and improve supplier performance through key metrics, including on-time delivery, consignment program, lead time, inventory, quality, and responsiveness.
• Drive supply continuity by proactively identifying risks, developing mitigation plans, and leading recovery actions to minimize business impact.
• Conduct regular supplier business reviews to assess operational health, capacity, demand readiness, and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with Commodity Management, Factory support, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics to resolve supply chain challenges.
• Analyze Supply vs. Demand (SvD), backlog, forecast, and inventory data to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
• Drive supplier commitments, lead time reduction, inventory optimization, and fulfilment improvements.
• Lead escalation management for supply constraints, shortages, and delivery issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure timely communication of supply risks, recovery plans, and business impacts to leadership.

The impact you'll make

At Lam, as a Supply Chain Business Manager, you play a crucial role in partnering with suppliers to drive operational excellence. Your data-driven approach ensures effective planning, scheduling, and monitoring material movement through our dynamic global production cycle. You'll benchmark and monitor supplier performance to manage risk. By driving continuous supplier process improvements you support the productivity and efficiency of Lam's operations.

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
• Minmum 8 years' related experience in development, management, and improvement of supplier performance metrics such as OTD, Consignment and Leadtime.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, and data analysis tools are preferred.
• Excellent stakeholders' management, negotiation, and solid written/oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with semiconductor or high-technology supply management practices, standards and organization would be a plus.
• Commodity experience and good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes in Sheet metal fabrication.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.

'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
