Job description

The group you’ll be a part of

This is a Supplier Engineering position in the Electrical Systems Group of Supplier Engineering and Technology (SET) at Lam Research in Malaysia. In this role, you will contribute to developing new designs in vacuum systems, including advanced valve designs, actuators, bellows, metrology tools, and pumping systems. Our Complex OEM team works across various high-tech fields, offering opportunities for cross-group collaboration.

The impact you’ll make

As a Supplier Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer at Lam, you'll ensure that suppliers meet quality standards by designing and maintaining quality assurance programs. You will inspect, test, and evaluate production processes and products at global supplier locations, analyze data to identify trends, and collaborate with suppliers to resolve technical and quality challenges. Your work will support Lam's commitment to high-quality, reliable products.

What you’ll do

• Apply your semiconductor manufacturing and vacuum technology expertise to technical and quality issues, especially during new product introductions.
• Manage the quality and timeliness of supplier engineering tasks and serve as a primary contact for OEM suppliers.
• Travel to supplier locations to conduct assessments, audits, and investigations, and implement improvements.
• Lead program and project management with a focus on problem-solving and process improvements, including RCCA and quality systems.
• Act as a technical liaison between OEM suppliers, product groups, and customer teams to ensure quick resolution of issues and customer satisfaction.
• Utilize experience with quality systems, engineering design, product qualification, and problem-solving in product lifecycle issues.

Who we’re looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Over 10 years of experience in semiconductor equipment systems and problem-solving at the component level.
• Proficiency in Failure Analysis, 8D, 5-whys, FMEA, Design-for-Reliability, Weibull analyses, etc.
• Understanding of modeling from suppliers, especially thermal and flow modeling.
• Experience providing DFM and DFA feedback to optimize manufacturing and reduce issues.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for various audiences, including during audits and discussions.
• Knowledge of electrical and manufacturing standards (e.g., Semi S2, OSHA, ISO9000/14000, RoHS, UL, IEEE, MIL, IPC).
• Experience with electro-mechanical assembly, testing, and quality assurance.
• Critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Product design and technical engineering experience in vacuum systems is beneficial.
• Understanding of the entire industrial systems lifecycle.
• Experience with PCB assembly, inspection, and testing is a plus.
