Astrodyne TDI is seeking a proactive Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our Penang operations team. You will drive supplier quality excellence, resolve issues, implement corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement in our global supply chain.
You will collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to audit suppliers, support IQA, and ensure prevention of production problems through robust PPAP/8D processes and DMAIC projects.
Astrodyne TDI is looking for a proactive and results-driven Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to join our operations team in Penang. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving supplier quality excellence, ensuring consistent delivery performance, and strengthening our global supply chain.
You will work closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers strong exposure to supplier development, technical problem-solving, and quality system enhancement within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Focal Point: Act as the primary contact for all commodity-related quality and functional issues stemming from purchased manufacturing components.
Issue Resolution: Ensure all production-critical supplier issues are resolved efficiently and that permanent corrective actions are successfully implemented.
Supplier Audits: Plan and perform supplier audits, interfacing with Corporate SQE when applicable.
Performance Evaluation: Conduct ongoing site-supplier evaluations utilizing data collected from Receiving Inspection, Material Review Board (MRB), Customer Returns, and the SCAR database. Report performance internally, to the supplier, and to customers where applicable.
Inspection Standards: Serve as the point of contact for Inspection Plans and Methods, providing documentation and guidance to Receiving Inspection Auditors within the Epicor system.
IQA Support: Assist Incoming Quality Assurance (IQA) in daily receiving inspection activities and provide technical support for complex quality issues.
Proactive Communication: Collaborate with internal departments to communicate information or quality issues that may impact product costs or manufacturability.
Safety & Security: Adhere strictly to all company safety, health, and security policies and regulations.
Operational Flexibility: Undertake other related quality tasks and duties as directed by management.
Quality Toolkit: In-depth knowledge of supplier quality management principles and common quality tools including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and 8D.
Professional Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, leadership, and decision-making capabilities combined with a resilient professional personality.
Corporate Alignment: Thorough knowledge of and adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
Communication: Proven ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, both verbally and in writing.
Execution: Detail-oriented with strong execution capabilities and a high sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment to results.
Autonomy: Self-motivated and goal-oriented; able to work independently, resourcefully, and take initiative while remaining a collaborative team player.
Compliance Mindset: Ability to read, understand, and support the execution of all corporate Quality and Environmental manuals.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical& Electronics Engineering (preferred) or a related technical field.
Specialization: Minimum of 3 years and above of relevant working experience within a quality function.

Specialization: Strong familiarity with Supplier Quality Management, SCAR, 8D, Kaizen, and DMAIC methodologies is highly advantageous.
