Purpose Statement
Drives improvement and corrective action in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers. Provides technical support in the selection of suppliers. Develops acceptance criteria for materials. Monitors supplier performance to drive supplier corrective action, manufacturing yield issues, and field failures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality, and manufacturing capabilities. Provide technical support for the introduction of components from new suppliers.
- Generate and maintain incoming inspection procedures. Train inspectors on these procedures.
- Develop and/or source inspection tools and equipment.
- Assist in generating component specifications.
- Generate test protocols, monitor testing, issue qualification test reports, and approve components for use in products.
- Provide input to Design Engineering on new component technology and assist in component selection with quality and reliability analysis.
- Analyze incoming material defects. Disposition and drive corrective actions as necessary. Communicate issues to suppliers.
- Review new design specifications and provide input from a component quality and manufacturability perspective.
- Investigate field failures related to supplier materials. Develop corrective action plans where necessary.
- May supervise inspectors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Supplier Quality Engineering role or similar.
- Experience working in a regulated environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
