Strategic Purchasing Engineer

Job Description

Our client specializes in providing innovative solutions for livestock, poultry, and swine farming.

Job Responsibilities

1. Manage part and component sourcing, supplier selection, and supplier management to ensure competitive cost, quality, and delivery performance.
2. Negotiate with suppliers on lead times, costs, and quality to maximize company benefits.
3. Monitor and assess supplier performance during the contract term, including conducting performance evaluations, updating supplier performance records, and providing feedback for improvement.
4. Collect and analyze market data to support purchasing decisions.
5. Conduct feasibility studies for localization projects.
6. Assist the engineering team with cost analysis for new product development.
7. Collaborate closely with suppliers, the engineering team, and the BDI technical department in new product development, qualification, transition, and production trial runs.
8. Perform technical inspections on new samples from local suppliers when necessary.
9. Provide technical support for local production, including setting up new production lines, maintaining plant equipment, and sourcing spare parts.
10. Follow purchasing guidelines from HQ.
11. Develop strategic relationships with key suppliers aligned with the company’s needs and business nature.
12. Ensure compliance with commercial, legal, and contractual requirements in all procurement transactions.

Job Requirements

1. Degree in Mechanical / Automation Engineering or a related field.
2. Minimum three (3) years of experience in sourcing or procurement, particularly in sheet metal parts, wire mesh products, and plastic parts.
3. Proficient in cost estimation for parts and tooling.
4. Strong team player with excellent negotiation and communication skills, particularly in supply chain management.
5. Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
6. Familiarity with manufacturing processes for sheet metal parts, wire mesh production, plastic injection molding, and electrical control panels (enclosures) is an advantage.
7. Experience in sourcing raw materials (steel coil, wire rod, plastic resin) and monitoring price and stock movements is a plus.
8. Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control is an added advantage.
