Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a General Manager to oversee overall business operations, drive strategic growth, strengthen performance, and build strong stakeholder relationships. This senior leader role targets construction/engineering exposure with daily operations and long‑term business development.

Key requirements include a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years of senior management, and strong financial and leadership capabilities. English and Bahasa Malaysia fluency is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Master's Degree / MBA is an added advantage
• Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in a senior leadership role (General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Operations Director or equivalent)
• Prior exposure to construction, engineering, or related industries is strongly preferred
• Proven ability to provide strategic direction, drive business growth, and lead cross‑functional teams
• Strong experience managing both daily operations and long‑term strategic initiatives
• Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, cost control, and business performance tracking
• Able to identify new business opportunities, secure projects, and manage business risks
• Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and mentor senior‑level teams
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with sound decision‑making skills
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage for communication with suppliers and business partners
• High integrity, entrepreneurial mindset, and results‑driven approach
• Able to thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction in developing and implementing the company's vision, mission, strategic objectives, and business plans
• Identify business opportunities, risks, and emerging market trends
• Develop strategies to support the company's long‑term sustainability and growth
• Oversee the company's day‑to‑day operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Establish, implement, and monitor internal policies, controls, and procedures
• Safeguard company assets and reputation through effective operational governance
• Ensure sound financial management across the company
• Oversee budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting
• Monitor business performance and identify areas for improvement
• Lead, motivate, and develop the senior management team
• Drive team performance towards company objectives
• Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and high performance throughout the organisation
• Act as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and management
• Ensure effective communication and execution of Board directives
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, regulators, and other key stakeholders
• Drive business growth by identifying and securing new projects, contracts, and partnerships
• Explore new markets and business opportunities
• Strengthen the company's market presence and support long‑term revenue growth
