Position location and reporting: Shah Alam, Selangor. The Store and Shipping Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing daily logistics and supply chain operations in a dynamic, highly regulated environment. The role ensures compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and operational procedures while meeting business and site requirements, including internal and external audit standards. The position collaborates with internal teams and third parties to deliver high-quality service, control resources effectively, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. It maintains a strong focus on safety, accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while upholding company values and life-saving rules. This position reports to the Operations Manager with a dotted line to the Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a support team and/or entry level specialists with operational focus*
- Coach, coordinate and delegate operational work responsibilities*
- Apply knowledge specific to area of responsibility*
- Provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity*
- Lead the Warehouse Operatives with regular 1-2-1 and/or group communications as appropriate
- Delegate to achieve the best outcome with the highest level of productivity in a safe environment
- Control all materials in accordance with Company Procedures
- Ensure raw material receipts, storage and distribution are timely and accurate per procedures
- Ensure finished goods transfers, good issues and shipping activities are timely and accurate
- Coordinate with Accounting, Manufacturing, QA, QC and other departments to ensure reporting, compliance, release of products and service levels
- Maintain effective communication between warehouse and other departments; inclusive of Project Free Issue items, providing a controlled secure area for client inspection
- Research and resolve shipping, packaging, and warehouse problems as needed
- Move materials to safest and best fit locations and record correct bin locations in the ERP system
- Control physical inventory counts per cycle count schedule and report Inventory Accuracy
- Identify, record and reconcile inventory discrepancies; issue stock adjustments as required
- Responsible for forklift maintenance to ensure timely repairs
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment; stack material/goods safely
- Train warehouse operatives in Material Handling practices and ensure adherence
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and material control systems
- Undertake specific projects as instructed by management
- Assist with other duties as required; contribute to continuous improvement and waste elimination
- Eliminate waste and promote environmentally friendly practices
- Supervise warehouse shipping team; conduct daily morning meetings and manage workload
- Monitor daily metrics related to on-time shipments
- Prepare weekly shipping schedule in advance
- Prepare items for shipment and check EMOs prior to shipping; liaise with Supply Chain to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain equipment records and movements; generate month-end inventory receipts and issues
- Document 5S audits and ensure compliance
- Experience with FMM and Certificate of Application; knowledge of Malaysian import/export legislation
Safety
- Ensure safety policies and procedures are understood and followed to provide a safe working environment
Other
- Work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
- Perform tasks with due diligence regarding Integrated Management Systems
- Eliminate waste and promote environmentally friendly practices
Supervisory and Reporting
- This position has direct supervisory responsibilities
- Report to Operations Manager
- Dotted line to Supply Chain Manager
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Diploma holders with extensive logistics/warehousing experience may be considered
- Professional certifications such as Certified Logistics Manager or CILT membership are advantageous
- Qualified Forklift Driving and Banksman/Slinging for offloading
Experience
- 5+ years in warehouse, inventory, and shipping operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Experience in highly regulated environments with HSE compliance
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Strong team player with effective communication at all levels
- Proficient in Oracle ERP/MRP or similar systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrates strong leadership and people management capabilities
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining accuracy
- Communicates management information effectively to employees and stakeholders
- Provides and accepts constructive feedback for continuous improvement
- Maintains cross-departmental communication for project alignment
Working Information
- Working Conditions: Warehouse environment with site-wide tasks; forklift and banksman/slinging duties; office tasks as needed. PPE and training as required.
- Physical Activity/Requirements: The job is medium work; includes occasional lifting up to 20 lbs, frequent lifting up to 10 lbs, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and repetitive arm/hand movements
