Job description

Primary Purpose:

To provide nursing care to patients on dialysis treatment and assist the Head Nurse / Staff Nurse In-Charge in the running of the dialysis centre.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  1. Provide standard nursing care for all patients in the dialysis centre.
  2. Follow guidelines on nursing procedures and medical standards; wear uniform and observe Standard Precautions at all times during duty.
  3. Supervise newly hired nurses during their probation period in clinical and nursing procedures.
  4. Ensure all dialysis machines are clean and safe for use.
  5. Proficiently commence dialysis, including cannulation of fistula needles, and monitor patients during dialysis.
  6. Respond immediately to any medical emergency, such as machine malfunctions.
  7. Administer drugs as per the Nephrologist's prescription.
  8. Ensure blood investigations are conducted as scheduled; review and file results; notify doctors of abnormalities.
  9. Keep patients’ medical files, including prescriptions and notes, updated promptly.
  10. Report adverse changes in patients’ clinical status, defective equipment, incidents, and complaints to the Head Nurse; hand over daily occurrences to the next shift.
  11. Inform patients of upcoming treatment schedules and notify the Head Nurse of any changes.
  12. Provide counseling and education to patients, including diet and rehabilitation, and document these activities.
  13. Respect patient dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
  14. Maintain confidentiality in nursing care.
  15. Develop good communication with patients' relatives and visitors; greet patients courteously.
  16. Maintain professional appearance and behavior at all times.
  17. Work overtime if needed, and inform relevant personnel of staff absences.
  18. Perform other duties as directed by supervisors and be willing to be deployed or relocated.
  19. Monitor patient absenteeism and take appropriate actions.
  20. Perform clinical practices in accordance with company guidelines.
  21. Ensure patients meet clinical KPIs.
  22. Update incidents into RQMT and hospital data into Euclid appropriately.
