Primary Purpose:
To provide nursing care to patients on dialysis treatment and assist the Head Nurse / Staff Nurse In-Charge in the running of the dialysis centre.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Provide standard nursing care for all patients in the dialysis centre.
- Follow guidelines on nursing procedures and medical standards; wear uniform and observe Standard Precautions at all times during duty.
- Supervise newly hired nurses during their probation period in clinical and nursing procedures.
- Ensure all dialysis machines are clean and safe for use.
- Proficiently commence dialysis, including cannulation of fistula needles, and monitor patients during dialysis.
- Respond immediately to any medical emergency, such as machine malfunctions.
- Administer drugs as per the Nephrologist's prescription.
- Ensure blood investigations are conducted as scheduled; review and file results; notify doctors of abnormalities.
- Keep patients’ medical files, including prescriptions and notes, updated promptly.
- Report adverse changes in patients’ clinical status, defective equipment, incidents, and complaints to the Head Nurse; hand over daily occurrences to the next shift.
- Inform patients of upcoming treatment schedules and notify the Head Nurse of any changes.
- Provide counseling and education to patients, including diet and rehabilitation, and document these activities.
- Respect patient dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality in nursing care.
- Develop good communication with patients' relatives and visitors; greet patients courteously.
- Maintain professional appearance and behavior at all times.
- Work overtime if needed, and inform relevant personnel of staff absences.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisors and be willing to be deployed or relocated.
- Monitor patient absenteeism and take appropriate actions.
- Perform clinical practices in accordance with company guidelines.
- Ensure patients meet clinical KPIs.
- Update incidents into RQMT and hospital data into Euclid appropriately.
