Position Summary:
Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit according to established standards and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivering high standards of nursing care and treatment to patients during the shift.
- Receive shift report with patient details and condition, and provide appropriate care.
- Visit each patient, assess their condition, and implement nursing care plans to achieve satisfactory clinical outcomes.
- Take and document vital signs, and inform the doctor of any abnormalities.
- Collect specimens as ordered, ensuring correct labeling.
- Participate in medical staff rounds, providing relevant nursing observations and assisting with procedures.
- Ensure all doctors' orders are carried out before the end of each shift.
- Administer medications according to standard operating procedures.
- Perform dressings using strict aseptic techniques as per policy.
- Treat patients with consideration, courtesy, and respect for culture and religion.
- Supervise cleanliness of the assigned area or ward.
- Check DDA, controlled drugs, emergency trolley, and portable oxygen at each shift.
- Ensure all items used for patients, including medications and surgical supplies, are recorded and charged.
- Conduct weekly inventory of surgical items and equipment.
- Maintain patient safety by implementing preventive measures against accidents and incidents.
- Report incidents to Nurse Managers/Supervisor.
- Take responsibility for personal professional development.
- Assist in managing mortuary services according to hospital, regulatory, and ethical requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of experience.
- Preferably with a post-basic certificate in Midwifery or Perioperative care.
- Valid annual practicing certificate.
- Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Special Demands:
- Possess a pleasant and caring personality.
- Have adequate knowledge and competence in nursing care, with analytical skills to interpret changes in patient conditions across various specialties.
