THE ROLE:

As part of the AECG ASIC/Custom silicon team, we are looking for an adaptive, self-motivated Front-End SOC silicon design engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.

THE PERSON:

As a Front-End SOC Engineer, you will work with chip architects to conceive designs, help with architecture/product definition through early involvement in the product lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and deliver IP-level RTL, and implement front-end RTL integration.
  • Experience in ASIC/SoC front-end design and methodologies, preferably RTL Verilog and VHDL based.
  • Knowledge in front-end design involving processor-based sub-systems, serial standard interfaces, and memory controllers.
  • Exposure to low-power design and system security is an added advantage.
  • Hands-on front-end design of complex multi-clock domain blocks.
  • Fluency in design and verification languages such as VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like TCL, shell script, Perl, Python.
  • Experience with Spyglass for lint and CDC checks.
  • Experience in synthesis and LEC flow.
  • Experience in identifying and implementing complex ECOs in netlists.
  • Defining and debugging SDC timing constraints.
  • Optimizing the design to meet power, performance, area, and timing requirements.
  • Writing readable and synthesizable Verilog RTL.
  • Creating well-documented block-level design documentation.
  • Participating in post-silicon functional and performance debugging and tuning.
  • Self-driven and capable of independent work and decision-making.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Hands-on experience in RTL coding, including IP RTL integration.
  • Strong understanding of SOC concepts like clocking, reset, boot, power management flows, low power techniques, and security.
  • Expertise with quality checks like CDC, Lint, VCLP, LEC.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with RISC-V, NOC, DMA, bus interfaces such as APB, AHB, AXI, OBI.
  • Experience with IPs like PCIe and DDR4/5 is advantageous.
  • Experience in packet processing, wireless protocols, and wireless base station protocols (e.g., CPRI, JESD, Uplink/Downlink) is helpful.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
