The General Manager, Operations will be responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing operations of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), including Warehouse, Production, Packaging, Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC), and Maintenance. The role ensures that all departments operate efficiently while meeting production targets, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management:
- Oversee the entire MSG manufacturing process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement production plans to meet company targets and customer demands.
- Monitor raw material usage, process parameters, and waste reduction initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
2. Packaging Operations:
- Supervise packaging activities to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and product integrity.
- Optimize packaging processes to minimize waste and enhance product shelf life.
- Ensure compliance with labelling, weight accuracy, and regulatory packaging standards.
3. Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC):
- Establish and enforce quality control measures across production and packaging units.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations, FSMS, HACCP, GMP, ISO, and other relevant industry standards.
- Work closely with the QA/QC team to analyze quality reports, address deviations, and implement corrective actions.
4. Maintenance & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance department to ensure uninterrupted production operations.
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with the engineering team for equipment upgrades, troubleshooting, and safety compliance.
- Ensure compliance with wastewater treatment and scheduled waste management regulations.
- Implement best practices for wastewater treatment to minimize environmental impact.
- Liaise with environmental agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to waste disposal guidelines.
- Lead and manage teams across production, packaging, QA/QC, and maintenance departments.
- Provide training and skill development programs for factory staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor production costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource utilization.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to manage raw material and packaging supplies.
8. Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure factory operations comply with industry regulations, environmental laws, and company policies.
- Prepare reports on production performance, quality metrics, and operational challenges for senior management.
- Collaborate with auditors, regulatory bodies, and certification agencies as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Food Technology, Industrial Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role.
- Experience in the food, chemical, or MSG production industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of production planning, process optimization, and quality assurance standards.
- Expertise in equipment maintenance, factory automation, and operational efficiency strategies.
- Certification in Wastewater Treatment and Scheduled Waste Management is an added advantage.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
