POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for on-time delivery of requests to ensure supply continuity and inventory control within reasonable levels. The role involves monitoring and improving supplier performance, maintaining effective communication internally and externally, and strengthening the core business relationships with suppliers. Duties include achieving favorable results, maintaining accurate and timely system updates, completing tasks within deadlines, and supporting various purchasing assignments and planning for lower to medium value production materials under limited supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review Business Requirements Planning (BRP) reports and analyze suggested orders or modifications.
- Educate suppliers on performance metrics and promote continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance against corporate objectives, coordinating with related teams to enhance performance.
- Develop knowledge of materials and supply sources to make cost-effective purchases that meet quality and quantity standards.
- Gain in-depth understanding of assigned commodities, suppliers, and related technologies to expedite results effectively.
- Procure parts/materials through RFQ, RFI negotiations, contracts, and cost and price analysis, leveraging internal and external expertise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams; work closely with planning and demand teams to adapt to demand fluctuations and communicate effectively.
- Maintain good communication with suppliers via daily emails, calls, or conference calls to resolve issues related to delivery, quality, payments, etc.
- Ensure system data is accurate and timely; complete purchasing tasks within designated timeframes.
- Manage inventory levels through negotiation, rescheduling, or cancelling open orders as needed.
- Adhere to organizational policies on quality, safety, conduct, legal compliance, environment, and 5S standards.
- Coordinate on NPI activities with the project team, including RMA/DMR processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.
- Standard office environment, using typical office equipment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Fast-paced and pressurized environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent organizational and negotiation skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions.
- Strong self-motivation.
- Excellent analytical abilities.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- 6-8 years in manufacturing or new product introduction environments.
- Proficiency with SAP.
- Experience managing or supporting project teams as a commodity group leader or coordinator.
- Preferably experienced in PCBA or HLA procurement.
- Familiar with procurement systems and procedures; capable of recommending improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
- Support purchasing manager in team leadership and results delivery.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, Logistics, Material Management, or equivalent.
